The temples, in order

After the Great Sky Island you can take the temples in any order. This is the route most players find smoothest, with each sage ability making the next region easier.

Temple bosses

Each temple ends in a boss built around that temple's sage. Beat it for a Heart Container and the sage's vow.

Your reward

Sage abilities you unlock

Every sage follows you as an avatar and lends you a power. Our sage abilities guide covers how to use each one well.

Tulin's Gust

Tulin blows a gust of wind that pushes you forward while you glide and knocks enemies back. It makes long glides across Hebra easy.

Sidon's Water

Sidon wraps you in a water bubble that blocks one hit and splashes enemies. It also washes away sludge and fire.

Yunobo's Cannon

Launch Yunobo forward to smash rock walls, ore deposits and groups of enemies.

Riju's Lightning

With Riju ready, your arrows call down a lightning strike where they land, hitting everything nearby.

Mineru's Construct

Mineru's construct body fights beside you. Attach Zonai devices to it to change how it attacks.

All five together

In the final battle the sages fight alongside you, so every temple you finish makes the ending easier.

Before you go

How to prepare for each temple

Wind Temple: pack for the cold

Hebra and the sky above it are freezing. Wear warm armor or bring spicy food and Spicy Elixirs before you climb.

Water Temple: get the Zora Armor

The Zora Armor lets you swim up waterfalls in Zora's Domain, which saves a lot of time on the way up.

Fire Temple: fireproof yourself

Death Mountain will set you on fire. Bring Fireproof Elixirs or fire-resistant armor.

Lightning Temple: day heat, night cold

The Gerudo Desert is scorching by day and freezing at night. Carry both heat and cold resistance.

Spirit Temple: light the way

The Depths are pitch black. Throw Brightblooms and activate Lightroots as you go.

Every temple: stock up

Bring arrows, a few strong fused weapons and plenty of meals. Temple bosses hit hard.

Tears of the Kingdom temple questions

How many temples are in Tears of the Kingdom?

There are five: the Wind, Water, Fire, Lightning and Spirit Temples. Each has its own sage, boss and Heart Container.

Any order works after the Great Sky Island. We recommend Wind, Water, Fire, Lightning, then the Spirit Temple, because Tulin’s Gust helps with everything that comes after it.

Not strictly, but it is strongly recommended. Each temple gives you a Heart Container and a sage who fights with you in the final battle.

The Spirit Temple is in the Depths. You reach it at the end of the Find the Fifth Sage quest, after rebuilding Mineru’s construct.

A Heart Container from the boss and the sage’s vow, which unlocks that sage’s ability for the rest of the game.
