Armor tips

Use elixirs until you have the set

Spicy, chilly and fireproof elixirs cover you until you buy the matching armor.

Swap armor on the fly

Change armor whenever the area changes. There is no penalty for swapping.

Upgrade one set at a time

Two stars on a full set gives a set bonus; spreading upgrades thin does not.

Mix pieces for coverage

One cold-resistant piece is often enough for mild cold. Save the full set for the worst areas.

Check the Depths

Several sets are hidden in the Depths. Light the way with Lightroots and Brightblooms.

Dye your favorite set

Once you find a dye shop, you can recolor any armor you like wearing.

Tears of the Kingdom armor questions

What is the best armor in Tears of the Kingdom?

It depends on the job. Climbing and Glide sets are best for exploring, Barbarian for attack, and upgraded sets with high defense for the final fights.

Restore a Great Fairy fountain, then bring the materials and rupees she asks for. Each upgrade adds defense, and two stars on a full set adds a set bonus.

Wear cold-resistant armor like the Snowquill set, or eat spicy dishes and Spicy Elixirs until you have it.

Wear the Flamebreaker set or drink Fireproof Elixirs. Without flame guard you catch fire near the volcano.

There are four Great Fairies, and each one has to be restored before she can upgrade your armor.
