Tears of the Kingdom guide
Five temples, five sages and five boss fights stand between Link and the Demon King. This page shows where each temple is, the order we recommend, the boss waiting at the end and the sage ability you earn, with a full walkthrough for every one.
After the Great Sky Island you can take the temples in any order. This is the route most players find smoothest, with each sage ability making the next region easier.
| Temple | Region | Main quest | Boss | Sage ability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wind Temple | Hebra | Tulin of Rito Village | Colgera | Tulin's Gust |
| Water Temple | Lanayru | Sidon of the Zora | Mucktorok | Sidon's Water |
| Fire Temple | Eldin | Yunobo of Goron City | Marbled Gohma | Yunobo's Cannon |
| Lightning Temple | Gerudo | Riju of Gerudo Town | Queen Gibdo | Riju's Lightning |
| Spirit Temple | The Depths | Find the Fifth Sage | Seized Construct | Mineru's Construct |
Each temple ends in a boss built around that temple's sage. Beat it for a Heart Container and the sage's vow.
Every sage follows you as an avatar and lends you a power. Our sage abilities guide covers how to use each one well.
Tulin blows a gust of wind that pushes you forward while you glide and knocks enemies back. It makes long glides across Hebra easy.
Sidon wraps you in a water bubble that blocks one hit and splashes enemies. It also washes away sludge and fire.
Launch Yunobo forward to smash rock walls, ore deposits and groups of enemies.
With Riju ready, your arrows call down a lightning strike where they land, hitting everything nearby.
Mineru's construct body fights beside you. Attach Zonai devices to it to change how it attacks.
In the final battle the sages fight alongside you, so every temple you finish makes the ending easier.
Hebra and the sky above it are freezing. Wear warm armor or bring spicy food and Spicy Elixirs before you climb.
The Zora Armor lets you swim up waterfalls in Zora's Domain, which saves a lot of time on the way up.
Death Mountain will set you on fire. Bring Fireproof Elixirs or fire-resistant armor.
The Gerudo Desert is scorching by day and freezing at night. Carry both heat and cold resistance.
The Depths are pitch black. Throw Brightblooms and activate Lightroots as you go.
Bring arrows, a few strong fused weapons and plenty of meals. Temple bosses hit hard.
There are five: the Wind, Water, Fire, Lightning and Spirit Temples. Each has its own sage, boss and Heart Container.
Any order works after the Great Sky Island. We recommend Wind, Water, Fire, Lightning, then the Spirit Temple, because Tulin’s Gust helps with everything that comes after it.
Not strictly, but it is strongly recommended. Each temple gives you a Heart Container and a sage who fights with you in the final battle.
The Spirit Temple is in the Depths. You reach it at the end of the Find the Fifth Sage quest, after rebuilding Mineru’s construct.
A Heart Container from the boss and the sage’s vow, which unlocks that sage’s ability for the rest of the game.
