Korok Fabric is a paraglider design in Tears of the Kingdom, and it hides behind one of the game’s sneakiest secret rooms. A Korok named Oaki has built a little hideout inside the Great Deku Tree’s mouth, and the only way in is straight up through the floor with Ascend. Bring him a few plants, wait for nightfall, and the fabric is yours.

Science time: here’s the prerequisite most guides skip, the exact way into the room, where to find the ingredients and how to put the fabric on your glider.

The Prerequisite: Wake the Deku Tree

The Tech: Oaki’s room only becomes reachable once the Great Deku Tree has recovered. That means dealing with the gloom at the bottom of the Deku Tree Chasm first, including the Gloom Spawn and a Phantom Ganon fight. The quest is technically tied to the Master Sword storyline, but you can do it long before you trigger that main quest.

If you haven’t been down there yet, prep for the Depths with plenty of Brightbloom Seeds and some sturdy weapons. Our Fuse guide helps you build something that can handle a Phantom Ganon.

How to Reach Oaki’s Secret Room

  1. Go to the Great Deku Tree. Head to Korok Forest and walk up to the Deku Tree.
  2. Find the Navel. The Great Deku Tree’s Navel is the hollow area at the tree’s base.
  3. Ascend. Stand under the ceiling of the Navel and use Ascend. You pop up through the floor into the Deku Tree’s mouth, where Oaki is redecorating.
  4. Talk to Oaki. This starts The Secret Room.

This shouldn’t work, but it does: the room has no door, no ladder and no hint from the outside. Anyone who never tests Ascend on a random ceiling will walk right past it. If Ascend is new to you, our Ascend guide covers every trick it can do.

Oaki’s Shopping List

Oaki wants four Blue Nightshade and two Giant Brightbloom Seeds. Note the “Giant”: regular Brightbloom Seeds, like the ones sold at the forest’s general store, do not count.

ItemAmountWhere to look
Blue Nightshade4The northwest part of Korok Forest (reached through the Depths and an Ascend from below), or the small pond southwest of Jiukoum Shrine, where five grow around the water
Giant Brightbloom Seed2Inside most surface caves; they glow, so look along cave walls and corners
Where to find Oaki’s ingredients.

Test Results: the Jiukoum Shrine pond is the cleaner route because it does not need the Depths detour, but expect an enemy camp nearby. Giant Brightbloom Seeds are common enough that you probably have a couple already if you have explored a few caves.

Finishing The Secret Room

  1. Hand over the items. Give Oaki the four Blue Nightshade and two Giant Brightbloom Seeds.
  2. Wait for night. He asks you to stay until dark so you can see the effect. If it is daytime, sit by a fire or simply wait it out in the room.
  3. Admire the room. The glowing decorations light up once night falls.
  4. Collect the reward. Oaki thanks you with the Korok Fabric.

How to Apply the Korok Fabric

New fabrics go into your key items; they are not applied automatically. Take the fabric to the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village, talk to the shopkeeper and choose to customize your paraglider. It costs a small rupee fee, and you can switch between any fabrics you have collected whenever you visit.

  • Stats: none. Korok Fabric is purely cosmetic, so your glide distance and stamina use stay the same.
  • Look: a sturdy fabric with a Korok design, very fitting for a glider you got from the Deku Tree.

If you’re in Korok Forest anyway, it’s a great moment to grab a few Korok Seeds too. Our Korok Seed locations guide has every one of them, and the Tears of the Kingdom guide hub collects the rest of our walkthroughs.

Patched? No. The quest works the same on version 1.4.3 and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition; our Zelda Switch 2 update guide covers what did change.
