Tears of the Kingdom guide
Fans, wheels, rockets and steering sticks: Zonai devices are the parts you build everything with in Tears of the Kingdom. Here is how to get them, what the main devices do and four simple builds that work everywhere.
| Device | What it does | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Fan | Pushes air in one direction | Boats, hoverbikes and flying machines |
| Small and Big Wheel | Drives along the ground | Cars and carts |
| Steering Stick | Lets you steer a vehicle | Any vehicle you want to control |
| Battery and Big Battery | Stores extra energy | Longer flights and drives |
| Wing | Glides through the air | Gliders and planes |
| Balloon | Floats upward when heated | Hot-air lifts with a Flame Emitter |
| Rocket | A short, powerful boost | Launching yourself or a build upward |
| Flame, Frost and Shock Emitters | Blast an element forward | Weapons and shield fuses |
| Cannon and Beam Emitter | Fire at enemies | Combat vehicles |
| Hover Stone | Stays in place in the air | Bridges and floating platforms |
Devices drain your battery. It refills when you stop using them, and extra Batteries help on long trips.
Trade crystallized charges at a Crystal Refinery to extend your battery.
Without one, vehicles go straight. With one, you control every device on the build.
Zonaite ore from the Depths turns into crystallized charges at a refinery.
Fans, wheels and Steering Sticks are used in most builds, so buy extra when you see them.
Once you have a build you like, Autobuild can make it again from capsules anywhere.
Put Zonai Charges into a device dispenser to get capsules, or pick up devices you find lying around sky islands and the Depths.
Attach a Steering Stick and stand on the build. The stick turns your vehicle and activates its devices.
Your battery has run out. Rest until it recharges, add Batteries to the build, or upgrade your battery at a Crystal Refinery.
An ability that saves your builds and rebuilds them quickly. See our Autobuild guide for how to unlock it.
Two Fans and a Steering Stick make a hoverbike. It is cheap, fast and only needs a little battery.
