Honestly? Faron is one of the coziest corners of Hyrule to wander around, even when the Lizalfos are doing their best to ruin the mood. It’s a big tropical stretch of southern Hyrule with jungle, cliffs, a sleepy fishing village and eight shrines, and its tower comes with a little surprise.
Let’s walk through this together: where Faron is, how to climb the tower, every shrine, the side quests worth doing and a few tips to keep things chill.
Where Faron Is and What to Expect
Faron covers the south of the map, east of Lake Hylia and south of the Dueling Peaks. Its southern edge is beach along the sea, while the inland part is thick jungle full of huge trees and rain. The Faron Tower map also stretches east to Lurelin Village, Cape Cales and Eventide Island.
- The Vibe: Jungle, waterfalls, high cliffs and a long sandy coastline. It’s gorgeous, so take your time.
- The Shrines: Eight in the Faron Tower region, and four of them are tied to shrine quests.
- The Dangers: Lizalfos and Moblins are common, and the frequent rain makes climbing slippery.
- The Hubs: Lakeside Stable on the west side and Lurelin Village on the east coast are where you’ll pick up most quests.

How to Climb Faron Tower
Faron Tower is normal height, but it has no platforms at the bottom, so you can’t stop for a breather on the way up. Here’s the chill version of how to deal with it:
- Stamina: Bring stamina food or elixirs, or wait until you’ve got a couple of extra stamina wheels.
- Revali’s Gale: If you have it, it skips most of the climb.
- The Wizzrobe: An Electric Wizzrobe floats around the tower. Take it out first or sneak past and climb fast; both are totally valid.
- The Keese: If a swarm of Keese is hanging around, Revali’s Gale can pull the whole swarm onto you. Land, then clear them with Urbosa’s Fury, a Remote Bomb or a spin attack.
- Rain: Wait it out by a fire or sleep at a stable. Climbing in the rain is a slide fest.
Activating the tower with the Sheikah Slate fills in the Faron region on your map.
All 8 Faron Shrines
Okay but, this part is so good. Faron’s shrines run from simple puzzles to proper little adventures.
| Shrine | Trial | Where | Shrine Quest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shai Utoh | Halt the Tilt | Hidden cave behind Lakeside Stable in Fen Woods; bomb the rock | None |
| Shoda Sah | Impeccable Timing | South of Riola Spring, path to the right of the waterfall | None |
| Qukah Nata | Blessing | South of Calora Lake, east of Faron Tower | A Song of Storms |
| Yah Rin | A Weighty Decision | Overlooking Lurelin Village | None |
| Kah Yah | Quick Thinking | Palmorae Beach area | A Fragmented Monument |
| Tawa Jinn | Blessing | South of Hateno Tower | Three Giant Brothers |
| Muwo Jeem | A Modest Test of Strength | Top of Cape Cales | None |
| Korgu Chideh | Blessing | Eventide Island | Stranded on Eventide |
The Four Shrine Quest Shrines
- A Song of Storms: Qukah Nata only appears once you’ve solved this one, so keep an eye out for it near Calora Lake.
- A Fragmented Monument: Piece together the monument fragments around Palmorae to reveal Kah Yah.
- Three Giant Brothers: A combat puzzle against three Hinox. It’s worth the effort, I promise.
- Stranded on Eventide: You arrive on the island with nothing, not even your gear. It’s one of the best quests in the game.
Muwo Jeem’s Modest Test of Strength is a fight with a Guardian Scout, so bring decent weapons and a shield. If you’re already on a shrine hunt, our Akkala shrines guide covers the next region over.

Faron Side Quests Worth Doing
| Quest | Where | What You Do | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thunder Magnet | Lakeside Stable | Find what keeps drawing lightning to the stable: an axe on the roof | Rubber Helm |
| Take Back the Sea | Lurelin Village (Sebasto) | Clear the monster camp on Aris Beach | Knight’s Halberd chest, Silver Rupee |
| Sunken Treasure | Lurelin Village (Rozel) | Find the treasure “in the center of the golden triangle” with Magnesis | Several chests full of gems and minerals |
| What’s for Dinner? | Lurelin Village (Kiana) | Bring Goat Butter and a Hearty Blueshell Snail | Purple Rupee and a share of the paella |
The Rubber Helm from Thunder Magnet is honestly the star here. Shock resistance comes in handy against Electric Wizzrobes and in thunderstorms. For What’s for Dinner?, you’ll need Goat Butter from a shop elsewhere, since Lurelin’s general store doesn’t sell it. Our BOTW recipes and cookbook guide covers where cooking ingredients come from.
Pro Tips for Exploring Faron
- Bring Stamina: Between the tower, the cliffs and Cape Cales, you’ll be climbing a lot.
- Pack Bombs: Remote Bombs open Shai Utoh and help with Keese swarms.
- Watch the Weather: Rain and lightning are common. Unequip metal gear in storms.
- Raft With a Korok Leaf: It’s the easiest way to Eventide Island, or paraglide from the tip of Cape Cales if your stamina allows.
- No Stress: If a fight goes badly, back off and come back later. Nothing here is missable.
The BOTW interactive map is great for lining up shrines and quests before you set out, and our Breath of the Wild hub has the rest of our region guides.
