Science time. The Spirit Temple is the last of the Sage temples in Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s the strangest one. There’s no Sage running beside you. Instead you rebuild a giant Zonai Construct piece by piece in the Depths, climb inside it and walk it to the temple.

This guide covers the whole Guidance from Ages Past quest: how to start it, all four Construct parts, the trek to the temple and the boss at the end.

How to Start Guidance from Ages Past

The quest opens on Dragonhead Island, the sky island you reach as part of the Find the Fifth Sage storyline after Secret of the Ring Ruins. A Zonai relic there, a mask behind a sealed door, starts it.

  • Where: Dragonhead Island, in the sky.
  • Quest giver: the mask, a Zonai relic that speaks to you.
  • Reward: Mineru’s Secret Stone and the Vow of Mineru, which lets you summon her Construct.
  • Bring: Brightbloom Seeds, healing food and a few spare Zonai devices. Most of this quest happens in the dark.

Step 1: Follow the Mask’s Light

  1. Pick up the mask. It fires a beam of light that points somewhere below the island.
  2. Carry it out through the door that opens and build a flyer: a Wing with two Fans and a Steering Stick.
  3. Attach the mask to the front so its light shows your direction, then launch and follow the beam.
  4. Where you land, set the mask where the light points to open the way down.

The path leads into a chasm and down to the Depths. After a cutscene, activate the Lightroot behind you so you have a fast travel point to come back to.

Bring Brightbloom Seeds: the route to the Construct Factory and the temple is pitch black.

Step 2: Rebuild Mineru’s Construct

Mineru guides you to the Construct Factory in the Depths beneath the Faron region. The mask goes on the head of a giant mold, and she asks you to fetch the arms and legs from four storehouses. Each one is a small Zonai building puzzle.

DepotThe puzzle in one line
Left-Arm DepotBuild a wheeled cart to cross lava, then use Fans to ride the river back.
Right-Arm DepotMove the part along a conveyor and build a wheeled carrier to bring it home.
Left-Leg DepotSet up a launch pad and use Rockets to blast the part out.
Right-Leg DepotGet height with Fans, then build a flyer to carry the part back.
The four Construct part depots.

The Tech: you can do them in any order. If a contraption keeps tipping over and you already have Autobuild, it rebuilds your last working design instantly. Our Autobuild guide explains how, and the Ultrahand guide covers the basics of sticking parts together.

Step 3: Walk the Construct to the Temple

With all four parts in place, the Construct comes to life and you can climb in. The Spirit Temple is marked on your map to the south.

  • Gear up first: device dispensers on the way let you equip the Construct. A spiked iron ball on one arm, a cannon on the other and a Rocket on the back is the setup you want for the boss.
  • Light the way: throw Brightbloom Seeds and activate Lightroots as you go.
  • Stay inside: the ground here is full of Gloom, and Gloom eats your max hearts until you heal it. The Construct keeps you off it.
  • The broken stairs: the temple’s stairs have collapsed. Use the Rocket on the Construct’s back to boost up.

Inside, examine the stone statue. That registers the temple as a travel point, so you never have to repeat the walk.

Step 4: Beat the Seized Construct

The boss is a Construct gone bad, fought in a ring of electrified wire. You fight from inside Mineru’s Construct the whole time.

PhaseWhat it doesYour move
Phase 1Guards, punches, fires cannonsBlock, counter with three or four quick hits and knock it into the wire
Phase 2 (about half health)Takes to the air, adds electric attacksShoot it down with the cannon, then repeat the wire combo
Seized Construct at a glance.

Test Results: a single shove into the electrified wire does more than a dozen regular hits. Don’t put ranged devices on both arms, because you need a melee hand to land the knockback.

Rewards

  • Heart Container: standard for every temple boss.
  • Mineru’s Secret Stone: Mineru joins your Sages.
  • Vow of Mineru: summon and ride her Construct anywhere, and change its arm and back devices with Zonai parts.
  • Travel point: the temple statue lets you warp straight back.

Patched? Nothing in the official TOTK update history up to the current version 1.4.3 changes this temple, and it plays the same in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
