Akkala is where Breath of the Wild stops handing you Korok seeds and starts making you work for them. The northeast corner of Hyrule packs roughly 57 seeds into the Akkala Tower region, spread across burnt-orange forests, a ruined citadel full of Guardians, a string of islands and some very tall trees. Here are the hot spots, the tools each puzzle wants, and what the seeds buy from Hestu.

Quick reality check before we start: Akkala is a late-game zone for most players. Guardians still guard the Citadel Ruins, Skywatchers circle Ordorac Quarry, and a Blue-Maned Lynel roams near Tumlea Heights. Bring real armor and a stack of arrows.

How Many Korok Seeds Are in Akkala?

The game never shows a per-region Korok counter, so every regional number comes from how a guide draws the border around the Akkala Tower map. The most widely used count is 57 seeds, though a couple of older lists say 58 or 59 depending on where they place the edge with Eldin and Hyrule Field. Either way, it is a dense chunk of the 900 seeds hidden across Hyrule.

  • Total in Hyrule: 900 Korok seeds.
  • Needed to max every stash: 441 seeds.
  • Where to spend them: Hestu, in Korok Forest inside the Lost Woods.
  • Tools you will lean on: Magnesis, Stasis, a fire source for leaf piles, Remote Bombs and a decent bow.

If you are routing the region properly, pair this with our Akkala shrines guide and the full Akkala region guide.

Akkala Korok Seed Hot Spots

Here’s what actually happens under the hood: Breath of the Wild reuses a small set of Korok puzzle types and scatters them everywhere. Akkala just stacks a lot of them close together.

Akkala Citadel Ruins

The ruins around Akkala Tower hold three seeds in a tight loop. On the broken balcony along the northern side you will find some arrows and a metal door lying flat: Magnesis it away and lift the rock. Climb the wall above that point for a pile of dead leaves hiding a second rock. The third is the easy one, a rock beside the row of rusty cannons south of the tower.

The Tech: the Guardians here are the real puzzle. Grab the tower first, then glide between the three seeds instead of walking the courtyard.

Akkala Span and Rok Woods

Under the Akkala Span, one of the broken pillars has a stone slab sitting on top. Freeze it with Stasis and whack it, or strap Octo Balloons to it and let it float away. For the tech nerds: the balloon route costs zero weapon durability, which is handy this far into a run.

Rok Woods gives you two more: a rock perched on top of a huge tree near the center of the grove, and a rock hidden under a slab on the western edge.

Akkala Falls, Spring of Power and the Wilds

At the top of the central waterfall at Akkala Falls, a ring of stones sits in the water with one gap. Carry a rock up and drop it in. The Spring of Power has a plain rock on the outer ledge around the spring.

The Akkala Wilds hide six seeds on their own, including a boulder you send rolling off Tumlea Heights into a hole below and a slab east of Skull Lake. The boulder route can drag you through the Blue-Maned Lynel’s patch, so scout it with your scope before you commit.

The Akkala Sea Islands

Davdi, Ankel and Tingel Islands off the east coast each have seeds, including a flower puzzle on Tingel. Do them in one trip by raft or glider.

What Akkala’s Seeds Buy From Hestu

Hestu’s prices climb with every slot, so the first upgrades in each stash are the cheapest. The numbers are wild: the first five upgrades in all three stashes cost 53 seeds combined, which Akkala alone covers.

StashCost of upgrades 1 to 5Seeds for all fiveSeeds to max that stash
Weapons1, 2, 3, 5, 819208
Bows1, 2, 3, 5, 81973
Shields1, 2, 3, 4, 515160

Turn in all 900 and Hestu gives you his gift of friendship. It is famously not worth the effort, so treat 441 as the real finish line.

Finding Akkala Koroks Faster

  • Wear the Korok Mask: the Master Trials DLC mask shakes when a hidden Korok is nearby.
  • Use Magnesis as a scanner: switching it on highlights metal plates and doors in pink, so hidden metal covers stand out instantly.
  • Switch 2 Edition players: the Zelda Notes app’s Navigation feature can guide you toward Koroks and shrines in real time through the Nintendo Switch app on your phone.

Akkala Korok Seeds FAQ

How many Korok seeds are in Akkala in BOTW?

Most counts put the Akkala Tower region at 57 Korok seeds. Some older lists say 58 or 59, because the game has no official per-region counter and guides draw the border differently.

Where do I turn in Korok seeds in Breath of the Wild?

Give them to Hestu in Korok Forest, inside the Lost Woods. He expands your weapon, bow or shield stash for each upgrade.

How many Korok seeds do you need to max inventory?

You need 441 Korok seeds to max every stash. The other 459 seeds only earn Hestu’s Gift.

How do I move the slab on the Akkala Span pillar?

Hit it while it is frozen with Stasis, or attach Octo Balloons so it floats off. Then lift the rock underneath for the seed.

Bottom line: run Akkala in loops. Clear the Citadel trio, sweep Rok Woods and the Span, then finish with the Wilds and the islands, and you will have enough seeds for the cheapest 15 inventory slots in the game.
