Susuyai Shrine is Tears of the Kingdom’s crash course in wheels. Its trial is called A Spinning Device, and every room asks the same question in a new way: what happens when you bolt a Small Wheel onto something that was never meant to move? Short answer: it moves. Here is the clean route, the chest, and two ways past the gate.
Where Is Susuyai Shrine?
The shrine sits on the surface in Central Hyrule, in the Passeri Greenbelt area of Hyrule Field, southwest of Lookout Landing. It is out in open grassland, so there is no cave to find and no rubble to clear. Open the TOTK interactive map if you want to see it next to the shrines around Lookout Landing.
- Trial name: A Spinning Device
- Region: Central Hyrule, Passeri Greenbelt (Hyrule Field)
- Coordinates: roughly -0785, -0434, 0018 (guides differ by a unit or two)
- Fastest route: launch from the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower and glide almost straight north
- Inside: one chest (5 Arrows) and a Light of Blessing (Depths counterpart: the Iayusus Lightroot)
For the tech nerds: the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower sits at about -0761, -1019, so the shrine is a near perfect straight line north of it. No tower yet? Ride southwest from Lookout Landing instead.

Susuyai Shrine Walkthrough
The trial runs in four beats: the cart highway, the rolling floor, the spinning gate, and the rail platform. Here is what actually happens in each one.
Step 1: The Cart Highway and the Chest
Right after the entrance, Zonai carts (flat panels on four Small Wheels) drive back and forth across a wide lane. They hurt if they hit you, so do not stroll into traffic.
- Stop a cart: hit any wheel with a weapon or an arrow. Striking a Zonai device toggles it, and one hit switches off every wheel on that cart.
- Grab the chest: the middle cart carries a treasure chest. Stop it, then either climb on and open the chest, or use Ultrahand to pull the chest off and open it on safe ground.
- Loot: 5 Arrows. Small, but free.
Step 2: Build a Cart for the Rolling Floor
On the landing past the highway you will find a panel with two wheels already attached and two loose wheels next to it. Ahead is a stretch of floor that rolls toward you like a treadmill, with a ramp at the far end.
- Build: flip the panel over and attach the two loose wheels so all four point the same way. If one faces backwards, the cart spins in place.
- Place it: set the cart at the base of the rolling floor, facing up the slope. The low gate there stops it from sliding back off.
- Ride: stand on the panel and hit one wheel. All four fire together and the cart drives up against the moving floor to the other side.
The Tech: wheels on the same build act as one vehicle, so a single hit wakes all of them. That is why the rule is simple: switch the cart off, place it, then switch it on while you are standing on it. A live cart dropped on that floor will happily drive off without you.
Step 3: The Spinning Device (the Gate)
This is the room the shrine is named after. A gate blocks the way, and a rotating lever (a big turnstile) beside it lifts the gate only while it keeps turning. Stop pushing and the gate drops again. You have two fixes.
| Method | What to do | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Small Wheel motor (intended) | Pull a Small Wheel off your cart (shake the right stick while holding it with Ultrahand), attach it to the lever and hit it | The wheel keeps pushing the lever, so the gate stays open while the wheel runs |
| Recall trick | Push the lever one full turn yourself, then use Recall on it | The lever rewinds through its turn and lifts the gate again while you walk through |
With the wheel method, run through as soon as the gate rises. A Small Wheel draws on your Energy Cell, and once the battery is empty the lever stops and the gate closes. Recall needs no battery at all. Working as intended? Doubt it, but it gets you through.
Step 4: Ride the Rail Platform
The last room is a big pit with a rail running across it. A platform with an arch frame hangs on the rail, but it has no power of its own.
- Power it: attach a Small Wheel to the top of the arch so the wheel sits on the rail. If you need to, lift the platform off with Ultrahand, fit the wheel, and set it back on the rail.
- Start it: step onto the platform and hit the wheel (an arrow works from below too). The wheel drives along the rail and carries you over the pit.
- Finish: hop off at the far side and touch the altar for your Light of Blessing.
This shouldn’t work, but it does: one tiny wheel pulls a whole platform along a rail.

Susuyai Shrine Rewards
| Reward | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 5 Arrows | Chest on the middle cart in the first room | Stop the cart or detach the chest with Ultrahand |
| Light of Blessing | Altar at the end of the trial | Four of them buy a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel at a Goddess Statue |
| Travel point | Shrine entrance | Permanent fast travel spot in the Passeri Greenbelt |

Tips That Save You Time
- Carry the cart’s wheels forward: the cart you build in Step 2 is your wheel supply for Steps 3 and 4.
- Watch your battery: early on your Energy Cell is small, so switch wheels off when you are not riding.
- Practice for later: the same tricks power your first Autobuild cars out in Hyrule Field, and Fuse covers the weapons you will hit those wheels with.
Susuyai Shrine FAQ
Where is Susuyai Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom?
On the surface in the Passeri Greenbelt of Central Hyrule, southwest of Lookout Landing, at roughly -0785, -0434, 0018. Glide north from the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower to reach it fast.
What is in the Susuyai Shrine chest?
5 Arrows. The chest rides on the middle cart in the first room, so stop that cart or pull the chest off with Ultrahand.
How do you open the gate in Susuyai Shrine?
Attach a Small Wheel to the rotating lever and hit it so it keeps turning, then run through. You can also push the lever one full turn and use Recall on it.
How do you cross the last room of Susuyai Shrine?
Attach a Small Wheel to the top of the hanging platform’s arch, stand on the platform and hit the wheel. It drives along the rail over the pit.
Test Results: Susuyai is short, but it teaches the wheel rules you will use in every later build: one hit switches a whole vehicle, a battery runs out, and anything with a wheel on it can move. For more shrine routes and guides, start at our Tears of the Kingdom hub.
