Have you ever watched a long, pale blue dragon drift across the sky over Lanayru and wondered what you could take from it? That is Naydra, the spirit of ice, and her horn is one of the rarest and most useful materials in Tears of the Kingdom. You do not have to beat her (you can’t), you just need a bow, a warm outfit and good timing.

Let’s walk through this together: where Naydra flies, how to get the horn, and how to spend it without regret.

The in-game description calls it a sharp horn of the blue spirit, said to be the crystallized power of ice itself, and notes that fusing the blade shaped horn to a weapon vastly increases its attack power.

Where Naydra Flies and How the Horn Drops

Naydra, the ice dragon, rises out of Naydra Snowfield Chasm just below the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower, crosses Lanayru and northern Necluda, then dives back into the Depths. Wait at the tower with cold protection and launch when she appears. The horn is the part you shoot on the dragon’s head, so line up alongside the head before you draw your bow.

The full route, with every dragon side by side, is in our dragon locations and farming guide. For the Naydra’s Horn stats, sell price and every upgrade that uses it, see the Naydra’s Horn database entry.

Naydra’s route crosses cold country, so pack cold resistance before you go.

How to Get Naydra’s Horn: Step by Step

  • Step 1: prepare for the cold. The mountains around her route are freezing, so wear cold resistant armor or eat a spicy meal.
  • Step 2: bring a bow and plenty of arrows. A moving dragon is a tricky target.
  • Step 3: unlock the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower and wait near Naydra Snowfield Chasm.
  • Step 4: when she rises out of the chasm, launch from the tower or high ground and glide onto her back from above.
  • Step 5: walk toward her head and hit one of the horns, or shoot it with an arrow from the air.
  • Step 6: the horn piece drops off. Grab it right away, and if it starts to fall, dive straight down after it.
  • Step 7: wait about ten real minutes before she will drop another part.

(Pro tip: a flying Zonai vehicle gives you more time alongside the dragon if you keep missing the landing.)

Okay but, this part is so good: while you are on her back you can also grab Shards of Naydra’s Spike from the base of the spikes just by walking along her. They do not respawn while you stay nearby, so leave and come back later for more.

What to Do With Naydra’s Horn

Armor Upgrades

This is the big one. Several armor sets need dragon horns for their highest upgrade tiers at the Great Fairy Fountains, and some upgrades ask for more than one. Check the requirements for the sets you actually wear before you spend a horn anywhere else.

Fusing

Fuse a horn to a weapon, shield or arrow for 26 attack power plus an ice effect. Ice arrows are great against fire monsters and can freeze enemies solid. Our Fuse guide explains how materials change your gear. Honestly? Do not burn horns on arrows until your armor is done.

Cooking

Adding a dragon part to a meal guarantees a critical success, and a dragon horn sets the meal’s effect duration to 30 minutes. That is perfect for long buffs like cold resistance or stealth. Our cooking and elixir guide shows how to build a meal around it.

Pro Tips for Farming

  • Camp the chasm: waiting at Naydra Snowfield Chasm beats chasing her across the map.
  • Farm in rounds: grab one part, then cook or explore during the ten minute wait.
  • Combine targets: scales, claws and spikes also go into upgrades, so take them while you are there.
  • Use height: Skyview Towers and Sky Islands save a lot of climbing. Our Ascend guide covers other ways to gain altitude.
  • Stay warm: running out of cold resistance mid flight is the most common reason a run fails.

Want every dragon route side by side? Our dragon locations and farming guide covers all four, and the Dinraal guide handles the fire dragon in Akkala.
