Staring at a mostly blank map in Tears of the Kingdom? Every adventure starts there, and Skyview Towers are how you fill it in. There are 15 of them across the Surface, and each one reveals a region of the Surface plus the Sky above it, then launches you into the clouds.

This guide lists all 15 towers with approximate coordinates, explains the little puzzle that guards most of them, and suggests an easy order. There’s no wrong way to approach this, so take it at your own pace.

How Skyview Towers Work

  • Checklist: 15 Skyview Towers, all on the Surface. None are in the Sky or the Depths.
  • What they reveal: the surrounding Surface region and the matching Sky map.
  • What they don’t reveal: the Depths. Those maps fill in as you activate Lightroots, which sit directly below Shrines of Light on the Surface.
  • Bonus: every activated tower becomes a fast travel point and a launch pad that fires you high into the sky, perfect for gliding to the next landmark.

Your first tower is Lookout Landing. It activates during the main quest Crisis at Hyrule Castle, once you check in with Purah. After that, the other 14 can be done in any order.

Tower Puzzles Worth Knowing

Most towers have a small obstacle. Here are the ones players ask about most.

Rospro Pass and Rabella Wetlands: Thorns

Rospro Pass is wrapped in spiky vines. Any fire works: a fire arrow, a Fire Fruit fused to an arrow, or a campfire. Rabella Wetlands is the tricky cousin, because the rain keeps putting the flames out. Burn the thorns that sit under roofs first, then place a long plank over the tower entrance to keep the rain off before you burn the door.

Fire clears the thorns at Rospro Pass. At Rabella Wetlands, keep the rain off first.

Ulri Mountain: The Stolen Console

A flying monster is carrying the tower’s console. Fuse a Keese Eyeball to an arrow so it homes in on the thief, shoot it down, and carry the console back to the tower with Ultrahand.

Eldin Canyon, Sahasra Slope and Gerudo Highlands

Eldin Canyon wants you to use Recall on a chunk of falling debris to ride it up, then drop through the roof and flip the switch inside. Sahasra Slope and Gerudo Highlands both end with Ascend: dig or swim your way under the tower, then rise straight up into it.

Thyphlo Ruins and Gerudo Canyon

Thyphlo Ruins sits in the dark forest with a golden ring on its roof. Attach a rocket to the lowest floating platform, launch it, glide to the ring and push it off with Ultrahand. At Gerudo Canyon, attach three square blocks to the hook in front of the tower to lift the elevator, then talk to the repairman on it.

A Relaxed Order to Unlock Them

  • Start: Lookout Landing, then Hyrule Field and Lindor’s Brow nearby.
  • Head south: Sahasra Slope, Popla Foothills and Rabella Wetlands, all close to Hateno and Kakariko.
  • Go northeast: Upland Zorana, Mount Lanayru, Ulri Mountain and Eldin Canyon.
  • Then north: Thyphlo Ruins, Rospro Pass and Pikida Stonegrove.
  • Finish west: Gerudo Canyon and Gerudo Highlands.

Take Your Time: Mount Lanayru, Pikida Stonegrove, Rospro Pass and Gerudo Highlands are all cold, so cook a few warming meals first. Our best recipes guide lists easy options with Spicy Peppers. And if a tower beam is hard to spot, look at night: the glow stands out against the dark sky.

Lore Connection: this random detail actually connects to the story. The towers are Purah’s project, built after the Upheaval to help Hyrule find its feet again, and the repairmen you keep rescuing are part of her team. Every tower you fix is one more piece of Hyrule pulled back together.

Skyview Tower FAQ

How many Skyview Towers are in Tears of the Kingdom?

Fifteen, all on the Surface. Each one reveals a Surface region and the Sky above it.

Do Skyview Towers reveal the Depths?

No. The Depths map fills in when you activate Lightroots, which sit below Shrines of Light on the Surface.

Which Skyview Tower should I do first?

Lookout Landing, which unlocks during the main quest Crisis at Hyrule Castle. After that, any order works.

Why won’t my Skyview Tower work?

Most towers have a problem to solve first, such as thorns, a broken console, a missing repairman or blocked doors. Fix it and the terminal inside will work.

One more thing before you move on: it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Grab a tower, launch, glide toward the next beam, and the map fills itself in. For collectibles on the way, keep our Korok Seed guide and the TOTK interactive map open.
