So here’s the deal: Ekochiu Shrine is the kind of shrine you find by accident. You’re riding north out of Woodland Stable, minding your own business, and there’s a glowing doorway sitting on the hill.
Inside is Rise and Fall, a short Recall puzzle in three rooms with one chest on the way. If Recall still feels a little weird, this is a friendly place to practice. Let me paint the picture.
Where to Find Ekochiu Shrine
Ekochiu sits in the Great Hyrule Forest region, just south of the forest itself and west of Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower, on the road toward the Lost Woods. The easy way in is from Woodland Stable: head north up the hill and the shrine is waiting at the top.
- The Setup: Ekochiu Shrine, trial name Rise and Fall.
- Region: Great Hyrule Forest, on the Surface, near the Eldin border.
- Coordinates: roughly 1060, 1278, 0045.
- Nearest landmark: just north of Woodland Stable, which sits on the road northeast of Lookout Landing.
- Abilities used: Recall and Ultrahand.
- Chests: one, in the second room.
- Depths twin: the Uihcoke Lightroot sits directly below the shrine in the Depths (its name is Ekochiu spelled backwards).

I’m not gonna lie, this one is easy to ride straight past. If you’re already heading to the stable, take the five minute detour. A Light of Blessing never goes to waste.
Ekochiu Shrine Walkthrough
The whole shrine is built around one idea: put a block in motion, climb on, and ride it backward through time. Think of it as three short acts.
Room 1: The Block Ferry
Step 1: Go down the stairs and step on the raised floor switch. A block shoots along a rail across the gap.
Step 2: Wait for it to fall back toward you. Climb on top of the block.
Step 3: Use Recall on the block. It rewinds along the rail and carries you to the other side.
When I first did this, it was the moment Recall clicked. You’re not moving the block, you’re asking time to move it for you.
Room 2: The Waterfall Ride (and the Chest)
Step 4: In the next room, a block drops from a high ledge into a stream and drifts toward a drop.
Step 5: For the chest first: grab the block with Ultrahand, set it near the right corner by the chest platform, climb up and jump across. Open the chest for a Zonaite shield.
Step 6: To move on, let a block fall back into the water (toss the current one over the edge and a fresh one spawns up high). Climb onto it in the stream.
Step 7: Use Recall. The block rewinds its fall and lifts you back up the ledge to the final room.
Missed the block before it went over? No stress. Another one drops in, so just try again.

Room 3: The Launch
This is where it gets WILD, in a small, charming way.
Step 8: Ahead of you is a floor switch. Down on the right is a block on the lower level.
Step 9: Jump down and grab that block with Ultrahand. Place it on the square launch spot on the lower floor, the one the switch pushes up.
Step 10: Go back and step on the switch. The launcher flings the block into the air.
Step 11: Once it lands, climb on and use Recall. The block retraces its flight and lifts you up high.
Step 12: Jump off at the top and glide across to the altar. Grab your Light of Blessing, and the shrine is now a fast travel point.

| 3 | Ultrahand, Recall | Launch the block, then rewind its flight to reach the exit | Light of Blessing |
Tips for Rise and Fall
- Wait for the block: in room one, let the block finish its trip before you climb on. Recall only rewinds what has actually happened.
- Chest first: grab the shield on your first pass through room two so you don’t have to repeat the ride.
- Line up the launch: in room three, make sure the block sits squarely on the launch spot. A crooked block flies somewhere unhelpful.
- Let it land: wait for the launched block to settle before you climb on and Recall it.

Lore Deep Dive: Why This Shrine Works
The devs hid this in plain sight. Ekochiu never tells you what Recall is for. It just keeps handing you objects in motion and trusts you to realize that their past is a path. By room three you’re launching a block on purpose just so you can ride its flight backward.
It’s also a nice reminder that Rauru’s shrines aren’t only tests of skill. They’re lessons in how the Zonai thought, and this one is all about time.
Anyway, once you’re done, Woodland Stable is the perfect base for the rest of the area. Plot your next stops on our Tears of the Kingdom interactive map.
