Divine Beast Vah Medoh circles high above Rito Village, firing at anything that flies too close. Calming it down is one of the most memorable stretches of Breath of the Wild: a test of archery, a bomb arrow assault in mid air, a dungeon you tilt like a paper plane, and a boss fight that rewards patience.

This guide walks you through every step in order, from the first conversation in Rito Village to Revali’s Gale. Take it at your own pace. There is nothing here you can permanently miss.

Before You Go: Getting to Rito Village

Vah Medoh’s quest starts in Rito Village in the Tabantha region, in the far northwest. The higher ground around it gets cold fast, so pack for it.

  • Cold Resistance: aim for Cold Resistance level 2 before the Flight Range. Warm armour, spicy dishes or a Spicy Elixir all help. The Rito Village armour shop sells the Snowquill set if you need it.
  • Stamina: a full stamina wheel or two makes the gliding sections much more comfortable. Our BOTW recipes and cookbook has the stamina and warming dishes worth cooking.
  • Arrows: bring plenty. You will use a lot of them.

Step by Step: Reaching Vah Medoh

  1. Talk to the Elder. Speak to Kaneli at the top of Rito Village. He explains how the Divine Beast keeps the Rito grounded and points you to Teba.
  2. Find Teba. Teba is not at home. His wife, Saki, lives next door to the Elder and tells you he has gone to the Flight Range, north of the village.
  3. Glide to the Flight Range. Saki points you to Revali’s Landing. Jump off it and glide north to reach the Flight Range.
  4. Pass Teba’s test. Teba asks you to shoot five blue targets within three minutes using the updrafts. Jump into an updraft, aim your bow in mid air to slow time, and pick the targets off.
  5. Gear up. Pass the test and Teba gives you 20 Bomb Arrows. Open the chest in the Flight Range cabin for a Falcon Bow.
  6. Bring down the shield. Teba flies you up to Vah Medoh. It is protected by four cannons, one on each corner. Each needs two Bomb Arrows. Get close, aim slightly above each cannon, and drop out of your glide if a shot is about to hit you.

Take Your Time: if a cannon knocks you out of the sky, you simply get another attempt. The cannons do not move, so each try gets a little easier.

Inside Vah Medoh: The Terminals

Once aboard, Revali’s spirit greets you and explains the job: grab the map, then activate the five terminals scattered around the beast. You can do them in any order.

Get the Map First

The Guidance Stone with the map is close to where you land. Once you have it, you can tilt Vah Medoh’s wings from the map screen. There are three positions: tilted one way, tilted the other way, and level. Tilting moves loose objects like the gondola and the battering ram, and it changes which ledges you can reach.

How to Approach the Five Terminals

  • Tilt and look: most terminals sit behind something that only becomes reachable at a certain angle. If you are stuck, change the tilt and walk the room again.
  • Shoot the eyes: Malice eyes on walls and ceilings seal doors and chests. Shoot them with arrows to clear the way. Look up in every new room.
  • Use the wind: updrafts carry you between levels. Aiming while gliding slows time, which makes the trickier shots far easier.
  • Magnesis: some metal blocks and fans can be moved or captured with Magnesis to open new routes.

Here’s your checklist before you leave each room:

Treasure chestsSeveralSome sit behind Malice eyes, sweep each room

Boss: Windblight Ganon

With all five terminals active, head to the main control unit. Windblight Ganon appears before you can use it. The fight changes as its health drops.

  • Phase 1: it fires gun blasts and throws slow tornadoes. Ride the fans’ updrafts, aim in slow motion and shoot its eye. Two eye hits stun it, so close in for melee damage.
  • Phase 2 (half health): it summons four drones that bounce its shots into a web of lasers, charges a wind attack and spends less time near the ground. Destroy the drones first, then go back to the eye.
  • Low health: it charges a long laser. Parry it with a shield or punish it during the long charge.

(Pro tip: make a manual save before activating the main control unit, and eat a hearty meal. If it beats you the first time, that is completely normal.)

Rewards

  • Heart Container: dropped by Windblight Ganon.
  • Revali’s Gale: after you activate the main control unit, Revali grants his ability. Hold jump to create an updraft that lifts you high into the air. You get three uses before it needs to recharge.
  • Great Eagle Bow: back in Rito Village, Kaneli rewards you with a chest holding Revali’s bow.
  • Vah Medoh’s laser: the Divine Beast settles above Rito Village and will help you in the final fight against Calamity Ganon.

Lore Connection: Revali spent a hundred years trapped in his own Divine Beast. Handing you his Gale, and his bow, is the proud Champion finally admitting you are worth the trust. This is one of those moments worth slowing down for.
