Welcome to the weirdest boxing match in Hyrule. You’re strapped into Mineru’s Construct, the floor around you is Gloom, and your regular punches barely scratch the boss. Yes, really.
The Seized Construct looks like chaos, but it runs on one clean rule: hit it into the electrified ropes. Here’s what actually happens under the hood, plus the loadout that makes the fight easy.
Where and When You Fight the Seized Construct
The Seized Construct is the boss of the Spirit Temple, the last stop of the main quest Guidance from Ages Past. You reach it after rebuilding Mineru’s Construct in the Depths and walking it south from the Construct Factory to the temple.
- Pilot: you fight the whole thing from inside Mineru’s Construct. Leaving it on a Gloom floor is a fast way to lose hearts and max health.
- Arena: a ring fenced by electrified wire. That wire is your real damage source.
- Phases: two. Phase 2 starts at roughly half health.
- Loadout: set up before you go in. There are Zonai device dispensers on the way to the temple, so stock up there.

The Best Loadout
Mineru’s Construct has a slot on each arm and one on its back. Here’s the setup I’d recommend, and why.
| Slot | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One arm | Spiked iron ball | Heavy melee hits that stun and knock the boss back toward the wire |
| Other arm | Cannon | Ranged damage, and the tool you need to shoot it out of the air in phase 2 |
| Back | Rocket or Fan | A burst of mobility; the Rocket also gets you up the temple’s broken stairs |
The Tech: don’t put a ranged device on both arms. You need at least one melee hand to land the knockback that sends the boss into the wire. And keep Zonai Charges or spare batteries in mind, because an empty Energy Cell leaves you with nothing.
Phase 1: Ring the Bell
Phase 1 is a footsies match. The boss guards, then telegraphs its punches by pulling back the arm it’s about to throw.
- Block or sidestep its punch.
- Counter immediately with your iron ball arm while it recovers.
- Chain hits. It usually takes three or four quick hits to stagger it and send it skidding backward.
- Aim for the wire. Position yourself so the boss is between you and the ropes before you start the combo. A shove into the electrified wire does far more than anything you can punch.
Test Results: regular hits do chip damage. One clean wire slam does massive damage. Position beats punching in this fight, every time.
When it switches to cannons, don’t walk straight at it. Strafe left or right, because almost every shot travels in a straight line, then punish while it reloads.
Phase 2: It Flies Now
At about 50 percent health, the boss gets more reach and starts attacking from the air, raining cannon fire or charging in with electric attacks. Its shock can briefly lock up both you and Mineru, so back away from those long arms instead of trading.
- Ground it: lock on and fire your cannon. A charged shot to the body knocks it down.
- Restart the combo: once it lands, it’s phase 1 again. Stun, stagger, shove into the wire.
- Repeat two or three times and it’s done.
Patched? Nothing in the official update history up to the current version 1.4.3 changes this fight, and it plays the same on Switch and on the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
Common Mistakes
I tested this so you don’t have to. These are the habits that turn a ten minute fight into a forty minute one.
- Punching in the middle of the ring: every combo that doesn’t end in the wire is wasted energy. Reposition first, then swing.
- Fan spam: flying around on the back device drains your Energy Cell fast, and an empty battery means no attacks at all.
- Ignoring the arm tell: the boss pulls back the arm it’s about to swing. Watch the arm, not the head.
- Walking into cannon fire: approach at an angle, never in a straight line.
- Skipping the dispensers: grab spare devices on the way in, so a worn out arm device is not the end of your attempt.
Rewards
- Heart Container: like every temple boss in TOTK.
- Secret Stone and Vow of Mineru: after the fight, Mineru becomes a Sage. Her vow lets you summon her Construct and ride it, with Zonai devices on its arms.
- Quest complete: Guidance from Ages Past wraps up, and the story points you toward the final stretch.

Seized Construct FAQ
How do you beat the Seized Construct?
Block its punches, counter with three or four quick hits and knock it into the electrified wire around the arena. In phase 2, shoot it down with a cannon first.
What is the best loadout for Mineru’s Construct?
A spiked iron ball on one arm, a cannon on the other and a Rocket or Fan on the back.
Can you get off Mineru’s Construct during the fight?
You can, but the floor is Gloom, so stay inside the Construct.
What do you get for beating the Seized Construct?
A Heart Container, the Secret Stone and the Vow of Mineru, which lets you summon her Construct.
Exploit Alert: the wire does the work, not your fists. Bait, block, combo, shove, repeat. Once it clicks, the boss is a punching bag with extra steps. For more Tears of the Kingdom guides, head to our TOTK hub.
