Ever walked past a patch of empty grass south of Rito Village and thought, ‘nothing to see here’? The devs want you to think that. This shrine is hidden behind a song, a clock, and a flame.

I tested this so you don’t have to. Here’s the full route to the Bareeda Naag Shrine, from the first lyric to the last chest.

Bareeda Naag Shrine Location and Overview

This is one of the hidden shrines in the Tabantha Region. It doesn’t appear on your map until you complete a shrine quest and trigger the reveal.

  • The Tech: The shrine is tied to the shrine quest The Ancient Rito Song, and it stays hidden until you meet the time-and-fire condition.
  • Location: Directly south of Rito Village, on a round shrine pad you reach by paragliding from the top of the village.
  • Prerequisite: You need to defeat Divine Beast Vah Medoh before Bedoli will start the quest. Do that first so you don’t waste a trip.
  • Quest Givers: Bedoli (required) and her sister Laissa (optional but easy).
  • Shrine Contents: Two cannon puzzles. One is mandatory and one is optional.
  • Treasure: A Diamond and a Falcon Bow.

The Ancient Rito Song quest is the gate. Skip it and the pad does nothing, no matter how many torches you wave around.

Step-by-Step: Reveal and Solve the Shrine

Link inside Bareeda Naag Shrine as the monk greets him: I am Bareeda Naag. In the name of the Goddess Hylia, I offer this trial

Part 1: Get the Song

  • Step 1: Climb the spiraling wooden stairs to the top of Rito Village and find Bedoli, the purple Rito woman on the platform near the top. Talking to her starts the quest.
  • Step 2: Head back toward the walkway and go left. Speak to her sister Laissa in the hut right next door. She teaches you the second half of the song.
  • Step 3: Read the lyrics. They are the whole puzzle, so don’t skim them.

Here’s the song:

  • Line 1: The pride of the Rito, pillar in the sky,
  • Line 2: its heart lights up, when the sun is high.
  • Line 3: The heart shines upon a path now whole,
  • Line 4: But a warming flame can stir its soul.

Translation: be at the right spot when the sun is high, then use fire. That’s the exploit-free, fully intended solution. Frame-perfect, it is not.

Part 2: Find the Pad and Light It Up

  • Step 4: Fast travel to the Akh V’quot Shrine at the top of Rito Village.
  • Step 5: Paraglide south, using your compass to stay oriented, until you land on solid ground. Look around for a round platform.
  • Step 6: Look back toward Rito Village. A towering rock formation forms a heart shape, and that’s what the song is describing.
  • Step 7: Around noon, stand on the pad with a lit torch, or light a fire on it. A fire arrow into the middle of the pad is worth a try too; if nothing happens, fall back to a torch or campfire.

The Bareeda Naag Shrine rises out of the ground. This shouldn’t work from a plain patch of grass, but it does.

Timing: When to Light the Pad

MethodWhat to DoNote
Lit torchStand on the pad holding a lit torch around noonThe most reliable option
CampfireLight a campfire on the pad with flint and wood, then rest until noonGood if you have no torch
Fire arrowShoot it into the center of the pad around noonWorth a try; use a torch if nothing happens

The window is not frame-perfect, so be on the pad a little before noon and keep the fire going. (Pro tip: if you don’t have a torch, light a campfire with flint and wood, then rest until noon.)

Part 3: Solve the Cannon Puzzles

  • Step 8: Enter the shrine and talk to the monk, Bareeda Naag.
  • Step 9: Climb the small ladder to find a cannon.
  • Step 10: Drop a Round Bomb into the cannon’s tube and detonate it with your Remote Bomb rune.
  • Step 11: Fire only when the path is clear. Both puzzles work the same way, so once you’ve done the first, the second is a repeat.

One puzzle is mandatory and the other is optional. Do both, because the optional one is where the loot is.

Rewards

  • Treasure Chest: A Diamond and a Falcon Bow.
  • Shrine Completion: Finishing the shrine gets you its Spirit Orb, like any other shrine.
  • Quest Credit: The Ancient Rito Song shrine quest is wrapped up once you complete the shrine.

The Diamond sells well or can be saved for upgrades. The Falcon Bow is a nice addition if you like your arrows flying fast. (Heads up: it sits in the chest behind the cracked wall, so blow that open with a bomb.)

Pro Tips

  • Check the Prerequisite: Beat Vah Medoh first. The quest won’t start without it.
  • Talk to Laissa: She’s technically optional, but she’s next door and finishes the lyrics. Skipping her is just making your own life harder.
  • Paraglide Smart: Jump from a high platform and glide south. Use the compass instead of eyeballing it.
  • Use the Heart: If you’re lost, look back toward Rito Village for the heart-shaped rock formation.
  • Time It Early: Arrive before noon and light your fire so you’re not caught flat-footed. (Pro tip: use the fire to ignite a regular arrow and shoot the pad.)
  • Patched? I haven’t seen any patch notes changing this reveal. The timing is a little loose, so give yourself a window.
  • Bring Bombs: You need your Remote Bomb rune ready for the cannon.

Why This Matters

The Bareeda Naag Shrine is a small piece of design that rewards you for reading a song, watching the sun, and using fire. No icon, no marker, just a clue and the nerve to try it.

The devs clearly wanted you to feel clever, and this one delivers. You get a Spirit Orb, a Diamond, and a Falcon Bow for your trouble.

Did you figure out the heart-shaped rock on your own, or did the song have you stumped? Drop your attempts and any timing quirks in the comments, and let’s compare notes.
