Listen up. Dah Hesho Shrine is a straight-up fighting shrine, and the guardian waiting inside swings a giant axe. It will humble anyone who walks in button-mashing.

I’ve got the full game plan, a free Korok seed, and every phase broken down for you. Let’s get into it.

Dah Hesho Shrine Location and Overview

First, find the place. Then we talk strategy.

  • Location: East of Akkala Tower, on the opposite shore of Lake Akkala.
  • Fast Travel: Teleport to Akkala Tower, then paraglide east. The shrine sits on a small cliff.
  • Shrine Type: A test of strength. No puzzles here, just you versus one axe-wielding guardian.
  • Bonus Loot: A free Korok seed right outside the entrance.
  • Main Rewards: A Giant Ancient Core and a Spirit Orb.

(Pro tip: Glide in from the tower and you’ll skip the long walk around the lake. Your legs will thank you.)

Dah Hesho Shrine Walkthrough: Step-by-Step

Do this, then this, then profit. Follow the steps in order.

  • Step 1: Before you go in, look at the three miniature goddess statues outside. Two have apples in their offering plates, and the third is empty.
  • Step 2: Drop an apple into the empty offering tray and a Korok seed is yours. These aren’t just free apples, so stop pocketing them and walk past the reward. I’m begging you.
  • Step 3: Gear up. Bring a one-handed weapon so your shield stays out, because that axe is nasty.
  • Step 4: No good one-handed weapon? Then you’d better have practiced the advanced techniques from Ta’Loh Naeg Shrine. Flurry rush and parrying are your best friends here.
  • Step 5: Walk forward and the guardian pops up. Phase one has an attack phase and a spin phase. Attack while it swings, and when it’s about to spin, get behind a pillar and wait for the rush.
  • Step 6: Stasis+ also works on the spin. Freeze it and punish it.
  • Step 7: At half health, phase two kicks in. When it drops to the ground and spins with a laser, use the updraft and stay in the air with your paraglider until the laser stops.
  • Step 8: When it goes for ranged attacks, use the pillars for cover. Fire elemental arrows from behind them to interrupt its attacks and wear it down.
  • Step 9: At very low health, it charges a laser like the overworld guardians do. Either rush it while it charges (if you’re strong enough), or raise your shield and parry on the beep by pressing A.
  • Step 10: When it goes down, take the door that opens at the back. Hit the chest right inside, then climb the stairs to the glowing altar.

The Play: Stay patient, use your cover, and punish every opening. Greedy swings get you axed.

Stop Doing This: Don’t stand in the open when the ranged attacks start. If you’re still tanking lasers with your face, we need to talk.

Rewards and Benefits

You didn’t just survive. You got paid.

  • Spirit Orb: Stack four of these and you can trade them for a new heart container or a stamina vessel.
  • Giant Ancient Core: It’s in the chest just past the door. Keep it for ancient gear upgrades.
  • Korok Seed: This is the apple trick from the statues. Easy points for your seed collection.

Why This Slaps: One shrine gets you three rewards, and you also sharpen the combat skills you’ll need for every tougher fight ahead.

Pro Tips

  • Pillars Are Your Friends: Use them for cover during the spin and again during ranged attacks. Break line of sight, then reset.
  • Elemental Arrows: Shooting from behind cover interrupts the guardian’s attacks. It’s a low-risk way to chip away at its health.
  • Flurry Rush: After a perfect dodge, mash your attack for a big damage window. It’s easier to pull off than parrying for a lot of players.
  • Stasis+ Timing: Save it for the spin phase, or use it to freeze the guardian while you line up a hit.
  • Paraglider Escape: When the laser spin starts, don’t run. Get in the updraft and glide until it’s over.
  • Parry on the Beep: The final laser has an audio cue. Listen for it and press A at the right moment.

(Pro tip: Bring food that restores hearts. You probably won’t need it, but you’ll be glad it’s there if a swing lands.)

Why This Matters

Dah Hesho is a skill check. It rewards cover, timing, and parrying, and it punishes button-mashing. Master those habits here and every guardian fight gets easier.

GG: You beat the axe, grabbed the core, and cashed in a Spirit Orb. This build hits different.

Now I want to hear from you. Did you beat the guardian with flurry rush, parries, or elemental arrows from cover? Drop your strategy in the comments and tell me how many hits you took.
