Link facing a giant construct made of stacked Zonai stone blocks in Tears of the Kingdom

Ever played Jenga with a giant stone ball sitting on top of the tower? That is Jochi-iu Shrine. The trial is called Courage to Pluck, and it is exactly that: pull blocks out of a tower with Ultrahand until the ball comes down, then catch it before it drops into the abyss.

Here’s how to solve it cleanly, plus how to grab both chests (one of them hides inside the tower itself). Let’s go.

Jochi-iu Shrine quick facts.

Head to the far northeast of Hyrule. The shrine sits just northeast of East Akkala Stable, along the road toward the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, so you can ride straight up to it.

How the Puzzle Works

Inside you will find a tall tower of stacked blocks on a platform over a pit, with a big stone ball sitting on top. The exit gate opens when you drop that ball into a hole in the main area.

  • The rule: if the ball falls into the pit, the whole setup despawns and resets. Every block goes back where it started.
  • Don’t jump on it: trying to climb onto the block platform does not work. Stay on solid ground and use Ultrahand from the edge.
  • Move slowly: a fast pull can knock the tower before you are ready.

(Pro tip: grab both chests before you go for the ball. If the tower collapses later, at least your loot is already safe.)

Jochi-iu Shrine Walkthrough

Step 1: The Ledge Chest (Zonaite Bow)

  1. Pull the bottom right block. Use Ultrahand to slide it out to the side. The tower stays standing.
  2. Make a ramp. Carry that block to the ledge on the left side of the room and lean it against the wall.
  3. Climb up. Walk up your new ramp and open the chest for a Zonaite Bow.

Step 2: The Tower Chest (Large Zonaite)

  1. Find the chest. Look at the back of the tower on the fifth level up. A chest is resting on one of the blocks.
  2. Grab that block. Use Ultrahand on it and attach it so the chest sticks to the block.
  3. Pull it out the back. Slowly slide the block (with the chest stuck to it) out and bring it to solid ground. Open it for a Large Zonaite.

Step 3: Bring Down the Ball

  1. Make the tower lean. Pull blocks out of the right side of the tower so the stack starts leaning right.
  2. Watch the ball. As the top tilts, the ball starts to roll off.
  3. Catch it with Ultrahand. Grab the ball as it falls, before it reaches the pit.

If you miss, no big deal. Everything resets and you can try again. Some players prefer to pull a block from the left side and use Recall to rewind the falling ball instead. Your call.

Step 4: Open the Gate

  1. Carry the ball back to the main area with Ultrahand. If the lift is not running, hold the ball and push it up the ramp.
  2. Drop it in the hole. The gate opens.
  3. Touch the altar. Claim your Light of Blessing.

Rewards

  • Zonaite Bow: a 30 attack bow that is a decent early pick in Akkala.
  • Large Zonaite: trade it at a Crystal Refinery for energy crystals that extend your Zonai battery.
  • Light of Blessing: four of them buy a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel at a Goddess Statue.
  • Travel point: the shrine unlocks fast travel in the far northeast, handy for exploring Akkala.

Pro Tips

  • Chests first: loot both chests before you go for the ball, so a collapse never costs you anything.
  • Small pulls: slide blocks a little at a time. Big yanks bump the stack.
  • Use the camera: walk around the edge of the pit to see the back of the tower before you pick a block.
  • Recall is your safety net: if the ball drops, try rewinding it with Recall before it hits the pit.
