Thunder rumbling, dark clouds swirling, and a shrine hidden inside a floating island. Joku-usin Shrine is a Proving Grounds trial called Short Circuit, and both halves of it, the stormy trip and the fight inside, are about electricity. There’s no wrong way to approach this one.

This guide covers where the shrine is, how to ride the rails in a thunderstorm without getting fried, and how to clear the Constructs inside with as little fuss as possible.

Joku-usin Shrine Location

Joku-usin Shrine sits in the Thunderhead Isles, a cluster of storm-covered sky islands above the Faron Grasslands.

  • Region: Faron Grasslands Sky, Thunderhead Isles.
  • Coordinates: roughly 1074, -3347, 0786 (guides vary by a few points).
  • Nearest tower: Popla Foothills Skyview Tower.
  • Trial: Proving Grounds: Short Circuit.
  • Chest: one, holding an Electro Elixir.

Lore Connection: This random detail actually connects to the main story. The thunderstorm over the isles is tied to the main story: finishing Secret of the Ring Ruins, part of Find the Fifth Sage, is what clears the clouds. You can go earlier, the visibility is just much worse.

Before You Go

Here’s your checklist:

  • Checklist: Shock resistance for the trip. Lightning strikes are the main danger on the isles.
  • Checklist: Swap metal weapons and shields for wooden ones while you travel. Metal gear draws lightning in storms.
  • Checklist: Enough stamina to glide from the tower. Tulin’s gust helps if you have it.
  • Take Your Time: You don’t need your loadout inside the trial. The shrine strips your gear, so plan only for the journey.

If you need a shock resistant meal, our guide to cooking meals and crafting elixirs lists the ingredients.

Getting There: The Rail Ride

  • Step 1: Launch from the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower and glide toward the storm, then head south across the Thunderhead Isles.
  • Step 2: When you reach the mine cart tracks, build your own cart. Use Ultrahand to lay a wooden pallet or plank on the rail and stick fans to it so it drives itself. A wooden cart is safer than a metal one in the storm.
  • Step 3: Hit a fan to start it, ride the rail, and jump off when you reach the far side.
  • Step 4: On the second set of tracks, ride until you are directly under the island with see-through walls. You can see the shrine inside it.
  • Step 5: Stop under it and use Ascend to rise through the floor into the shrine chamber.

(Pro tip: If your cart stalls, check that the fans face the right way. Tinkering is half the fun, so don’t be afraid to rebuild it a couple of times.)

Short Circuit is a Construct fight. Fuse what the shrine gives you and let electricity do the rest.

Proving Grounds: Short Circuit Solution

As soon as you enter, Link loses all weapons, armor and items. The goal is to defeat every Construct using only what the shrine gives you, and the shrine’s whole theme is electricity.

  • Step 1: Grab a weapon first. You cannot realistically finish the fight bare handed.
  • Step 2: Sneak up on the first archer Construct and take it out. Fuse its horn to your weapon for extra damage, and take its bow.
  • Step 3: Pick Shock Fruit from the nearby shrubs. Fuse them to arrows and shoot the metal platforms that the raised Constructs stand on. The shock travels through the metal and hits them.
  • Step 4: For the big finish, head to the left platform, climb the ladder and glide across to a second ladder. There is a Shock Emitter up there.
  • Step 5: Fuse the Shock Emitter to your weapon with Fuse, then strike a Construct standing near a metal platform. The electricity chains across the connected metal and fries the remaining Constructs.

Any damage works, so if a Construct is standing off the metal, just finish it with your weapon. Stay mobile and don’t let several gang up on you at once.

Rewards

  • Checklist: Your gear comes back as soon as the last Construct falls.
  • Checklist: A gate opens to the treasure chest. Inside is an Electro Elixir.
  • Checklist: Use the altar for your Light of Blessing. Four of those buy a Heart Container or Stamina Vessel at a Goddess Statue.
  • Checklist: The shrine becomes a fast travel point, so you never have to ride those stormy rails again.
