Think Necluda is just the scenic hallway between the Great Plateau and the “real” game? Think again. This corner of Hyrule hands you two towers, two of the best villages in Breath of the Wild, a house, a bandit’s buried treasure and one island that will humble you.

Let me break this down for you: what is in each part of Necluda, the order that wastes the least time, and the one free treasure most players pay for.

Necluda at a Glance

Necluda is the province east of the Great Plateau, wrapped around the Dueling Peaks. It splits into three areas, and each has a clear job.

The Math: after the four Great Plateau shrines, the Old Man gives you the paraglider and points you to Impa in Kakariko Village. That means most players walk into Necluda with three hearts and a basic stamina wheel. Necluda is tuned for exactly that.

Lore Drop: the Dueling Peaks look like a single mountain split in half, and they work as a natural gate into the province. Nintendo did not hang up a welcome sign. It built a geological doorway and trusted you to notice. Respect.

The Efficient Route Through Necluda

Wandering is half the fun. If you want efficiency anyway, here’s what to actually do.

  1. Climb Dueling Peaks Tower. It is the obvious first tower after the Plateau, with no real obstacles on the way up. See our Dueling Peaks Tower guide.
  2. Stop at Dueling Peaks Stable. It sits just east of the peaks along the road. Register your horse, grab side quests and talk to everyone. Our Dueling Peaks Stable guide has the details.
  3. Clear the shrines between the peaks. Ha Dahamar Shrine sits in the river running between the two mountains and leans hard on Cryonis. The Ha Dahamar Shrine walkthrough has the solution.
  4. Grab Misko’s treasure. More on this below. It costs you a few bombs, not rupees.
  5. Reach Kakariko Village. Meet Impa to continue the main quest. Our Kakariko Village guide covers the shops and shrines there.
  6. Push east to Hateno. Hateno Village, its tower and the Ancient Tech Lab are next. Unlocking camera and Hyrule Compendium features happens here.
  7. Leave Eventide Island for later. Much later.

Stables like Dueling Peaks Stable are where Necluda’s side quests start.

Misko’s Treasure: Do Not Pay 100 Rupees

At Dueling Peaks Stable, two travelers named Domidak and Prissen chat about a bandit’s hidden loot. Talk to them again and Domidak offers to sell you a clue for 100 rupees. That starts the side quest “Misko, the Great Bandit.”

Here’s the thing most guides won’t tell you: you do not need the clue. Paying for it is a tax on people who read dialogue too carefully.

  • Where to go: cross the Big Twin Bridge and the smaller bridge beside it, south of the stable, then follow the river south to its source.
  • The wall: at the end you find a waterfall. Climb above it to find a cracked wall.
  • The payoff: bomb the wall, then bomb the second cracked wall inside. Several chests are tucked around the cave, and they blend into the rock, so check every corner.

Opening one chest completes the quest. Opening all of them completes your rupee problem.

Hateno: Your Future Home Base

Hateno Village is the friendliest town in the game, and it is where you can buy a house. The side quest “Hylian Homeowner” asks for 3,000 rupees and 30 bundles of wood. (Yes, really. Link gets a mortgage.)

  • Hateno Tower: stands on the approach to the village and is wrapped in brambles. Burn them with a fire arrow or a lit wooden weapon for a safer climb (you can also climb around them). See our Hateno Tower guide.
  • Ancient Tech Lab: at the top of the hill. Purah and the main quest “Locked Mementos” live here, and it unlocks your camera.
  • Fort Hateno: a field of dead Guardians on the road west of town, with a story connection you will understand later.
  • Shopping: the Enchanted armor shop and the dye shop make Hateno the outfit capital of Necluda.

Full details are in our Hateno Village guide.

Shrines and Spirit Orbs

The Math: every shrine you clear gives you one Spirit Orb, and four orbs buy a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel at a Goddess Statue. Necluda has a lot of shrines packed tightly together, so a single loop through the region can easily fund two or three upgrades.

  • Dueling Peaks: Ha Dahamar in the river between the peaks, plus Ree Dahee and the twin shrines on the mountains themselves.
  • Kakariko Village: Ta’loh Naeg and Lakna Rokee are both a short walk from Impa’s house.
  • Hateno area: Myahm Agana sits right by the village, with more shrines along the coast.
  • Eventide Island: Korgu Chideh, the reward for the “Stranded on Eventide” trial.

Eventide Island: Respect It

Eventide Island sits off the southeast coast. When you set foot on it, the game strips your weapons, armor and food, and you have to clear the island with whatever you find there. Our Korgu Chideh Shrine guide walks you through it.

Hot Take: if you are still swimming to Eventide at three hearts, we need to talk. Come back with extra hearts and stamina and the island goes from miserable to genuinely clever.

Pro Tips for Necluda

  • Cryonis is king: rivers and lakes are everywhere here. Ice pillars solve more problems than they have any right to.
  • Carry bombs: cracked walls hide loot all over the region. Link has never once been asked to knock politely.
  • Talk at stables: side quests in Necluda mostly come from stables and villages, so skipping dialogue costs you rewards.
  • Koroks: the area around Hateno is dense with them. Our Hateno Korok seed guide has the list.

Necluda FAQ

Where is Necluda in Breath of the Wild?

East of the Great Plateau, south of Lanayru. It includes the Dueling Peaks, Kakariko Village, Hateno Village and the Necluda Sea coast.

What towers are in Necluda?

Dueling Peaks Tower in the west and Hateno Tower in the east. Hateno Tower is covered in brambles you need to burn first.

How do you find Misko’s treasure without paying?

Cross the twin bridges south of Dueling Peaks Stable, follow the river to its source, climb above the waterfall and bomb the cracked walls.

How much does the Hateno house cost?

3,000 rupees and 30 bundles of wood, through the side quest “Hylian Homeowner.”

When should you do Eventide Island?

Once you have a few extra hearts and some stamina upgrades. The island takes all your gear on arrival.

Actually Do This: climb Dueling Peaks Tower, clear the shrines between the peaks, bomb Misko’s walls instead of paying for directions, then head to Kakariko and on to Hateno. Leave Eventide until your hearts can take the hit. The math doesn’t lie: Necluda pays out more per square mile than almost anywhere else in Hyrule.
