Let me paint the picture: you’re standing on the northern shore of Lake Darman, heat shimmering off the lava, when the lake itself starts to stand up. That’s the opening act of Kamia Omuna Shrine, and it’s one of my favorite DLC moments in all of Hyrule.
So here’s the deal: this guide covers the whole trip. You’ll find the shrine, take down the molten titan guarding it, and solve the Moving Targets puzzle inside.
Where to Find Kamia Omuna Shrine
This shrine is one of the 16 shrines added by The Champions’ Ballad DLC, and one of the four Daruk trials in the Eldin region. It’s the first trial in the EX Champion Daruk’s Song quest from The Champions’ Ballad. You won’t see it until you earn it.
- Quest Requirement: The shrine only becomes accessible once you start the EX Champion Daruk’s Song DLC quest. You need all four Divine Beasts tamed before the Champions’ Ballad main quest opens up.
- Location: It’s just north of Lake Darman, in the northern reaches of Death Mountain. Approach from the northern bank of the lake.
- The Catch: The shrine stays hidden until you defeat the Igneo Talus Titan that rises out of the lava.
- The Monument: The quest starts at a stone monument on a high cliff southwest of Goron City. It was marked on your map when the One-Hit Obliterator split apart.
To reach the monument, warp to Shae Mo’sah Shrine and follow the road out of town. When the road turns left (south), look across the lava and up. You’ll spot the top of the monument poking out.
There’s no easy path, so paraglide across the lava and climb. (Pro tip: stock up on fire-resistant gear or elixirs before you go, because Death Mountain doesn’t forgive underprepared travelers.)
Lore Deep Dive: The monument shows three satellite-style images of the area, and Kass’s song hints at what you’ll face. The first trial mentions stopping a titan made of molten stone.
Look at the obelisks and you’ll find a map point with a lava pool just south of a giant skeleton. That’s the Eldin Great Skeleton, which puts the spot on Lake Darman’s north shore. The devs hid the answer in plain sight, and I love that.
Kamia Omuna Shrine Walkthrough

This one has two parts: the Igneo Talus Titan outside, then the Moving Targets puzzle inside. Take the titan first.
Part 1: Beating the Igneo Talus Titan

But here’s where it gets interesting: the titan is embedded in the lava, and the fight is a dance of cooling it down and getting on its back. This is where it gets WILD.
- Step 1: Glide down from Death Mountain toward the north shore of Lake Darman. You’ll find the Igneo Talus embedded in the lava.
- Step 2: Let it rise from the fires. As it does, gusts of wind kick up around it. These are your elevator.
- Step 3: Ride the gusts above the titan and loose ice arrows to cool its body. Hit the ore vein to stun it.
- Step 4: Once it smashes into the magma, land on its cooled back. Hit the ore vein with a strong hammer or ice weapon to keep things cool.
- Step 5: When the titan starts to shake, jump and take to the air. Otherwise you’ll get knocked into the lava.
- Step 6: Repeat the cycle until it falls. A nearby shrine will then open up for you to explore.
Ice arrows from above are the most reliable approach. Pick your beefiest two-handed weapon for the ore vein, lock on and spin. If it’s strong enough, the titan goes down fast.
The Alternate Route: A Blizzard Rod works well too. Stand at the lake’s edge and charge an attack so the area of effect reaches the titan, which extinguishes its fiery exterior.
Having all your charges of Urbosa’s Fury ready helps a lot. It adds serious damage alongside the rod’s attacks.
(Pro tip: falling in the lava while you still have hearts just puts you back on the bank in the middle of the fight. But if you’re at 0 hearts when you hit the lava, it’s a game over and you reload from your last save, so eat before you engage.)
Part 2: Solving Moving Targets
Inside, the Monk is locked behind a gate. To your left is a large target on the wall, plus a bomb receptacle powering a cannon-like device.
- Step 1: Insert a Round Remote Bomb into the receptacle, then hit the switch to pan the cannon.
- Step 2: As the cannon passes over the target, detonate your bomb. The ball hurtles into the target, knocks it down and reveals a new target further back.
- Step 3: Look at the new setup. The second target moves slowly, and there’s a chest high on the right side. Below it is a fenced-in receptacle.
- Step 4: Aim the cannon at the chest to break the platform it sits on. The chest crashes down below.
- Step 5: Use Magnesis to pull the chest over to you. It holds a Diamond.
- Step 6: Go back to the apparatus and slowly reorient it until it forms a hole you can see through to the target on the wall. Then fire a timed shot through the gap.
The gap in step 6 is fairly small, so timing is critical. It’s wide enough for a well-timed shot to sail through, though. Be patient and don’t rush the shot.
(Pro tip: if your first shot misses, take a beat and watch the target’s movement. Then fire when the gap and target line up.)
Rewards and Benefits
- The Diamond: Pulling the chest down with Magnesis nets you a Diamond. It’s a solid find, and it makes the cannon detour worth it.
- Quest Progress: Clearing this shrine is the first trial in EX Champion Daruk’s Song. It moves you along toward the rest of the Goron Champion’s challenges.
- A New Shrine: Another DLC shrine added to your Eldin collection, and a reason to revisit Lake Darman.
Pro Tips
- Bring Ice Arrows: Stock up before you head to the lake. They’re your best tool for cooling the titan from above and stunning it at the ore vein.
- Use the Wind: The gusts are a mechanic, so don’t fight them. Ride them up and drop onto the titan’s back.
- Watch for the Shake: When the titan starts to shake, jump and glide away. That’s the signal to reset, not to keep swinging.
- Pack Food: Heart-restoring meals matter here. Going down to 0 hearts before a lava fall is the one way to lose real progress.
- Stay Patient Inside: The Moving Targets puzzle is about timing, not speed. Take your time lining up the cannon.
Why Kamia Omuna Shrine Matters
When I first rode those gusts over a molten titan, I grinned like an idiot. It’s the kind of moment that reminds you why Breath of the Wild’s world holds up. The shrine is a payoff for reading the monument, finding the skeleton and trusting your gut.
Anyway, you’ve got the plan. Grab your ice arrows, bring a heavy two-hander and go take down that titan.
So what’s your go-to for the Igneo Talus: ice arrows from the sky or the Blizzard Rod from the shore? Drop your strategy in the comments, and I’ll see you at the next shrine.
