Hogsmeade looks like a cozy postcard, and honestly? It kind of is. But the little village down the road from Hogwarts is also where you buy your wand, your brooms and half of your Room of Requirement, and where a whole pile of side quests start. If you have only popped in for the story, you are missing a lot.
Let’s walk through this together: every shop and what it sells, the side quests that start in the village, the collectibles worth chasing and the best order to tackle it all.
Hogsmeade at a Glance
You first arrive during the main quest Welcome to Hogsmeade, where you pick up your wand at Ollivanders. After that, the village is yours to explore.
- Floo Flames: three of them, North, South and West Hogsmeade. Walk past each to unlock it.
- Landmarks: the Three Broomsticks, the Hog’s Head, Honeydukes, Zonko’s Joke Shop and Steepley and Sons tea shop.
- Side quests: around eleven start in or around the village.
- Collectibles: Field Guide pages, Demiguise Moon statues and several kinds of chests.
Every Hogsmeade Shop and What It Sells
| Shop | What you get there |
|---|---|
| Ollivanders | Wands |
| Spintwitches Sporting Needs | Brooms and broom upgrades |
| Tomes and Scrolls | Conjuration spellcrafts for the Room of Requirement |
| J. Pippin’s Potions | Potion recipes, potions and ingredients |
| The Magic Neep | Produce, seeds and Fertiliser |
| Dogweed and Deathcap | Magical plants and seeds like Mandrake and Venomous Tentacula |

Room of Requirement Shopping List
Tomes and Scrolls is where your hideout comes together. It sells spellcrafts like Potting Tables, Potions Stations, the Breeding Pen, Beast Feeder, Beast Toybox, Chopping Station, Dung Composter, Hopping Pot and Material Refiner, priced from about 400 to 3,000 Galleons.
No Stress: you do not need everything at once. A Potting Table and a Potions Station first, then beast gear once you start rescuing creatures, is a comfy order.
J. Pippin’s Potions
Pippin’s sells recipes for Maxima (500), Invisibility (800), Focus and Thunderbrew (1,200 each), plus ready-made potions and ingredients. If you are short on Galleons early, the Maxima recipe is a cheap win for combat.

Minding Your Own Business
Okay but this part is so good. In winter, a house-elf in Hogsmeade starts announcing a vacant shop. Buy it from Cassandra Mason for 1,500 Galleons and work through the quest, and you end up with your own shop, including a vendor who buys your items for 10% more than usual. The quest started out as a PlayStation exclusive but is now on every platform, and it also rewards the Shopkeeper cosmetic set. Trust me on this, it pays for itself.
Collectibles in Hogsmeade
- Field Guide pages: guides count 55 in the village, and 30 of those are Revelio Pages. Some float (use Accio), most are hidden (use Revelio), and a few are Moth Frames (light Lumos and lead a moth to the frame).
- Demiguise Moon statues: guides count 9. You can see the statues by day, but the moons can only be collected at night after The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament, and you need them to learn higher levels of Alohomora.
- Collection Chests and Legendary Chests: several are tucked inside houses and on rooftops, some behind Alohomora locks.
- Eyeball Chests: they close when they see you. Sneak up with Disillusionment or an Invisibility Potion for a pile of Galleons.
Locked doors are common here. If a house is locked at a level you can’t open yet, come back after the next Demiguise run.
