How hard can a balloon party be? Famous last words. Realm Trial is Acecraft’s challenge hub: three very different modes behind one button, with Lucky Chests waiting for anyone who clears them. And because it only opens for limited windows, skipping it isn’t “saving time.” It’s leaving loot on the table.

Let me break this down for you: where to find it, what each mode actually tests, what the chests pay, and how to stop losing to balloons.

Where to Find Realm Trial

Realm Trial sits in the lobby, just to the left of the big Start button, between the Adventure flow and the other mode buttons like Tempus Trek, Nemeses’ Return and Golden Apple Rush. In the current lobby it wears a Limited Time tag, which tells you it runs in windows rather than being open around the clock.

Actually Do This: check the tag every time you log in. When Realm Trial is open, it goes to the top of your list, right next to the Flight Log. Our daily challenges guide shows where it fits in a full routine.

The Three Realm Trial Modes

Three modes, three completely different skill checks. Think one pilot handles all of them equally well? Think again.

ModeWhat it isWhat wins itPilot priority
Boss RushBosses back to backSustained single target damage, Ultimate timingYour strongest boss killer
Balloon PartyPop as many balloons as you canMovement, screen coverage, route planningWide or tracking attacks
Bullet StormDense, classic bullet hell patternsPatience, dodging, smart absorbsWhoever keeps you alive longest

Boss Rush

Back-to-back bosses, no breather. This is a pure damage check, so bring the pilot you’d trust in Nemeses’ Return.

  • Pace your Ultimate: most Ultimates in Acecraft clear projectiles as well as dealing damage. Burning it on the first boss’s opening pattern is the classic self-own.
  • Absorb aggressively: bosses throw big pink waves, and every pink shot you soak fires your pilot’s Stunt for free damage.
  • Learn phase changes: the hardest moments are when a boss switches patterns. Dodge first, damage second.

Boss Rush is a damage check: absorb pink waves and save your Ultimate for the dense patterns.

Balloon Party

Here’s the thing most guides won’t tell you: Balloon Party punishes the exact pilots that crush Boss Rush. A narrow, high-damage stream is great against one big target and mediocre against a screen full of balloons.

  • Coverage beats raw damage: pilots with spread shots, tracking missiles or summons pop more balloons per second.
  • Keep moving: parking in the middle of the screen is how you miss half the balloons. Sweep side to side.
  • Don’t forget absorbing: a tracking Stunt (think Ekko’s Spitfire flames or Pris’s Tracking Missiles) can clean up balloons you can’t reach.

Bullet Storm

The purist’s mode. Dense patterns, little forgiveness, and the most satisfying clears in the hub.

  • Survival first: a run you finish beats a run where you deal great damage for twenty seconds.
  • Absorb selectively: lifting your finger stops your plane in place. Only lift when pink shots are coming and normal bullets aren’t. Our pink projectile absorption guide covers the timing.
  • Hold the Ultimate as a panic button: when a pattern gets too dense, a projectile-clearing Ultimate buys you a reset.

What the Lucky Chests Pay

Clearing Realm Trial modes earns Lucky Chests, and those chests can hold Diamonds, Pilots and Wingmen along with other rewards. That’s the reason this mode matters so much for free players.

The Math: a single pilot recruit costs 300 Diamonds, and a ten-pull costs 3,000. Every Diamond a chest hands you is a slice of your next ten-pull, and the pilots and Wingmen that drop directly skip the gacha entirely. Our F2P guide explains where those Diamonds go furthest.

Higher Difficulties and Scaling

The October 2025 update (version 1.3.85) raised the pilot level cap to 60 and added higher Realm Trial difficulties at the same time. The message is clear: the developers expect you to keep climbing as your roster grows.

  • Climb when the lower tier feels boring: if you’re clearing without thinking, you’re ready for the next one.
  • Upgrade before you bang your head: leveling, Gear and pilot Amplification all move the needle more than another ten failed attempts.
  • Switch pilots per mode: the same pilot rarely tops all three. Keep one boss killer and one coverage pilot leveled.

Hot Take: the players who complain Realm Trial is “too hard” are usually running their Boss Rush pilot in Balloon Party. Spread your investment across two roles and the difficulty curve gets very reasonable.

Realm Trial FAQ

What modes are in Acecraft Realm Trial?

Three: Boss Rush, Balloon Party and Bullet Storm. Each one tests a different skill, from boss damage to movement and dodging.

What rewards does Realm Trial give?

Clearing Realm Trial earns Lucky Chests, which can contain Diamonds, Pilots, Wingmen and other rewards.

Is Realm Trial always available?

No. In the current lobby the Realm Trial button carries a Limited Time tag, so check it when you log in and play it while it’s open.

Does Realm Trial get harder?

Yes. Version 1.3.85 in October 2025 added higher Realm Trial difficulties alongside the level 60 pilot cap.

Actually Do This: check the Limited Time tag every login, bring a boss killer to Boss Rush and a coverage pilot to Balloon Party, survive first in Bullet Storm, and open every Lucky Chest. Three modes, one chest habit, and a steady trickle of Diamonds you didn’t have to pay for. For the full roster picture, see our Acecraft tier list.
