Gear fusion is the slowest, quietest power system in Acecraft, and honestly? It’s also the one most players get wrong in their first month. The rules change as you climb the rarity ladder, so the habits that work at the bottom can trap you near the top.

Let’s walk through this together: what gear does, how fusion works at each stage, where your fusion fuel comes from, and the mistakes worth avoiding. This guide is current as of the October 2026 update that added SP pilot Drakuku.

What Gear Actually Does

Gear raises your pilot’s base attributes, and base attributes feed straight into combat power. Each pilot has a set of gear slots, and the pieces you slot in follow that pilot into every Adventure stage, event and challenge mode.

Fusion is how gear grows. Combining pieces forges a stronger version that has higher stats and a higher level cap, so it can also absorb more upgrade levels. It’s the long game, and the payoff stacks with everything else you build.

The Gear Rarity Ladder

Gear climbs through six color tiers. Here’s the chill version:

ColorRarityHow you usually move up
GrayNormalFuse identical copies
GreenGoodFuse identical copies
BlueBetterFuse identical copies
PurpleExcellentPlus levels from same slot pieces, identical pieces for the jump to Gold
GoldEpicPlus levels from same slot pieces, identical pieces for the jump to Red
RedLegendaryThe current ceiling
Acecraft gear rarities from lowest to highest.

Each step up is a real jump in stats, so even moving a single key slot from Blue to Purple is something you’ll feel in your clear times.

How Fusion Works, Tier by Tier

Gray to Purple: Identical Copies

At the bottom of the ladder, fusion needs at least three copies of the same piece. Three identical gray pieces become one green, three identical greens become a blue, and so on up to Purple.

No Stress: this is why you should never sell or ignore low tier duplicates early on. They aren’t clutter. They’re your upgrade fuel, and the game hands them out faster than you’d expect.

Purple and Gold: The Rules Loosen

Okay but, this part is so good. Once a piece reaches Purple, you can raise it to Purple +1 and beyond by fusing it with other Purple pieces from the same gear slot. They don’t have to be the same item. Any spare Purple piece for that slot can become fuel, and each plus level raises both stats and the level cap.

Gold works the same way: same slot Gold pieces feed Gold plus levels.

The Big Jumps: Strict Again

Here’s the catch. Jumping from Purple to Gold, and from Gold to Red, goes back to needing two identical pieces that have both reached a high enough plus level. If you want a Gold version of one specific jacket, you need two copies of that exact jacket, both upgraded.

These tier jumps are the real bottleneck of the whole system. The fusion screen shows exactly what a piece needs before you commit, so check it before you spend anything. Take your time with this one.

Where Your Fusion Fuel Comes From

Gear and upgrade materials come from a mix of places, and the more of them you tap daily, the faster your ladder moves.

  • Adventure stages: clearing stages drops gear and materials, and three star clears are worth the extra effort.
  • Missions and the Flight Log: daily and weekly tasks pay out steady materials.
  • Events: limited events are the best accelerant in the game. Check our events guide so you don’t miss one.
  • Gear summons: higher rarity pieces mostly come from summons, so your Diamond budget and your fusion plan are really the same conversation. Our gacha guide covers where Diamonds go furthest.

A Fusion Plan That Actually Works

  1. Pick your main pilot first. Gear follows your attention. Decide who you’re building before you fuse anything.
  2. Fuse every low tier duplicate. Gray through Blue copies are cheap power. Clear them out regularly.
  3. Push one or two key slots at a time. Moving one piece to Gold beats nudging six pieces to Purple +1.
  4. Protect identical pairs. Before you feed a Purple piece into another slot’s plus level, check whether it’s the twin you’ll need for a Gold jump later.
  5. Stack it with other systems. Gear works alongside Emblems (equipped onto your Gear once you clear Adventure stage 4-6) and the Modify system, so balance your resources across all three.

Honestly? The biggest mistake is impatience. Spending every spare Purple on quick plus levels feels great today, then leaves you one identical copy short when a Gold jump is finally in reach.

Gear and the Bigger Picture

Gear is one layer of your power. Pilot levels, pilot amplification, Wingmen and element matching all stack on top, and your in-run attachment picks still decide how a stage actually plays out. If you’re just starting out, our game mechanics guide explains how all of it fits together.

Acecraft Gear Fusion FAQ

How do you fuse gear in Acecraft?

Open a gear piece and use the fuse option. At low rarities you need at least three identical copies; at Purple and Gold, same slot pieces raise plus levels, while tier jumps need identical pieces.

What is the highest gear rarity in Acecraft?

Red (Legendary) is the current ceiling. Below it sit Gold (Epic), Purple (Excellent), Blue (Better), Green (Good) and Gray (Normal).

Should I keep duplicate gear?

Yes. Low tier duplicates are fusion fuel, and identical higher tier copies are needed for the jumps to Gold and Red.

Where do I get better gear?

Adventure stages, missions and events give steady gear and materials, while higher rarity pieces mostly come from gear summons.

The Payoff: your first Red piece changes how your main pilot feels in every mode, and the fusion system rewards planners over spenders the whole way up. Fuse your duplicates, guard your identical pairs, and push one slot at a time. You’ve got this.
