Misko’s Treasure of Awakening II is the middle chapter of the Great Bandit’s armor hunt in Tears of the Kingdom, and it hides the Trousers of Awakening under the Coliseum Ruins in Hyrule Field. The puzzle itself takes about thirty seconds. The Thunder Gleeok parked on top of it does not.

Science time. Here’s what the riddle means, how to deal with the dragon, the exact sword trick that opens the floor, and what’s waiting in the cave.

The Riddle, Decoded

The slab you read at the end of part I talks about warriors who once tested themselves in battle, and tells you to offer your soldier’s claymore to the two sculpted soldiers so the sword can point the way. Translation: an arena, two statues, one missing sword.

That arena is the Coliseum Ruins in Hyrule Field. The fastest route is to launch from the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower and glide southwest until the ruined amphitheater comes into view.

Dealing with the Thunder Gleeok

The Tech: you can technically sneak to the puzzle without killing it, but the Gleeok will not leave you alone while you work. In practice, you fight it. A three headed electric dragon is a lot, so prep like you mean it.

  • Lightning protection: the Rubber Armor set or Lightning Helm cuts the shock damage. Electric resistance meals and elixirs work too.
  • Homing arrows: fuse Keese Eyes or Aerocuda Eyes to your arrows and they curve into the heads on their own. Bring a big stack.
  • Bullet time: jump or glide off a ledge and draw your bow to slow time. The Coliseum’s tiered walls give you plenty of launch points.
  • Head shots: knocking out its heads sends the Gleeok crashing down, which opens it up for melee damage.
  • Cover: duck behind the Coliseum’s thick walls when it starts charging a beam.

When it takes to the air, keep moving, watch for lightning strikes and keep firing homing arrows at the heads. Patience beats aggression here; rushing in on foot is how you lose a stack of hearts.

Opening the Coliseum Ruins Cave

With the Gleeok gone, head to the back of the ruins at ground level. You’ll find a blocked hole in the floor and two knight statues beside it: one holding a Soldier’s Claymore, one with empty hands.

  1. Find the loose claymore. A Soldier’s Claymore lies on the ground a short distance to the right of the weaponless statue.
  2. Grab it with Ultrahand. Pick it up with Ultrahand rather than equipping it.
  3. Place it in the statue’s hands, blade down. Match the pose of the other statue. Once the sword sits right, the seal on the floor opens.
  4. Drop into the cave. The Coliseum Ruins Cave is right below.

Test Results: rotating the sword with Ultrahand until the blade points down is the step that trips most people. If nothing happens, adjust the angle instead of reloading.

Inside the Cave: Rewards

  • Trousers of Awakening: in the chest. That’s the second piece of the Armor of Awakening.
  • Weapons and arrows: swords and crates of arrows are scattered around the cave. Restock after the Gleeok fight.
  • Sticky Lizards: handy cooking critters, so catch a few.
  • The next riddle: interact with the stone in front of the platforms to start Misko’s Treasure of Awakening III.

Don’t leave the Gleeok’s drops behind either. Gleeok parts are valuable for fusing and armor upgrades, and our Fuse beginner’s guide shows what they can do on a weapon.

The claymore puzzle is pure Ultrahand, so if picking up and rotating objects still feels clumsy, our Ultrahand guide covers the controls. For electric resistance food, see our guide to cooking meals and crafting elixirs. Every other region and quest is on the Tears of the Kingdom guide hub.

Patched? Nothing about this quest has changed through the current version, 1.4.3, or the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Our Zelda Switch 2 update guide has the full patch picture.

Misko’s Treasure of Awakening II FAQ

Where are the Trousers of Awakening in Tears of the Kingdom?

In a chest inside the Coliseum Ruins Cave, under the Coliseum Ruins in Hyrule Field.

How do you open the Coliseum Ruins Cave?

Use Ultrahand to put the Soldier’s Claymore lying nearby into the empty hands of the sculpted soldier, blade pointing down. The floor seal opens.

Where does Misko’s Treasure of Awakening II start?

At the stone slab next to the chest in the Ancient Columns Cave, which you reach in part I of the chain.

The Tech: homing arrows for the Gleeok, Ultrahand for the claymore, blade down for the seal. Do those three things and the Trousers are yours, with the last riddle waiting right beside the chest.
