Ishokin Shrine is one of the sweetest little side trips in Tears of the Kingdom. There is no puzzle and no fight inside. Instead, the shrine stays buried until you help a horse fan named Baddek, and the price of admission is showing him the biggest horse in Hyrule.
This is the full walkthrough for the Ride the Giant Horse shrine quest: where Baddek camps, where the Giant White Stallion grazes, how much stamina you need to tame it, and what you get at the end. Let’s walk through this together.
Ishokin Shrine Location
Ishokin Shrine sits on the surface in the Faron Grasslands, on the south side of Zokassa Ridge, on a slope overlooking Pappetto Grove. Highland Stable is the closest stable and the easiest place to start.
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Region | Faron Grasslands (surface), Zokassa Ridge |
| Shrine coordinates | About (-0566, -3524, 0129) |
| Shrine type | Crystal shrine, Rauru’s Blessing inside |
| Shrine quest | Ride the Giant Horse |
| Quest giver | Baddek, at a campfire on Zokassa Ridge |
| Nearest stable | Highland Stable |
| Rewards | Light of Blessing, Topaz from the chest |
Here’s the catch: if you run to those coordinates before the quest, you will find empty grass. The shrine only rises once you deliver the crystal Baddek is holding on to. If you want to pin everything before you leave, our TOTK interactive map is a handy way to plan the route.

Ride the Giant Horse: Full Walkthrough
The vibes here are immaculate. This whole quest is a relaxed ride across open grassland, so settle in and enjoy it.
Step 1: Find Baddek
Fast travel to Highland Stable, then head west along the road and climb up onto Zokassa Ridge. Baddek is sitting by the only campfire in the area, which makes him easy to spot from a distance, especially at night when the glow stands out.
Talk to him and he tells you he is a bit of a horse fanatic. He has found a strange glowing crystal, and he will happily trade it, but only if you show him the enormous horse he keeps hearing rumors about. That starts Ride the Giant Horse.
Step 2: Find the Giant White Stallion
The stable staff at Highland Stable will point you the same way: toward the Horse God Bridge. From the stable, head south to the fork, take the path east across the Horse God Bridge over the Lake of the Horse God, and follow it to the dead end at Ibara Butte. The Giant White Stallion grazes there.
Ride it rather than walk if you already have a horse registered: the road from the stable to Ibara Butte is long and wide open, and the stallion is far easier to tame with a full wheel than after a sprint.
Step 3: Tame It
This is the only part with a real requirement. Sneak up, mount the stallion and keep soothing it until it calms down. Taming drains a lot of stamina: guides put it at roughly two to three full stamina wheels, so most players need either upgrades or food.
- Bring stamina food: Energizing dishes (Stamella Shrooms cook into a solid option) refill your wheel. Open the menu mid taming to eat; the game pauses while you do.
- Upgrade first: if you have spare Lights of Blessing, trading them for stamina at a Goddess Statue before this quest makes taming painless.
- Can’t get on? Glide down onto its back from the cliffs above.
If you need a refresher on stamina meals, our cooking and elixir guide covers what to throw in the pot, and the TOTK recipe list has the exact dishes.
No Stress: if you run out of stamina and get thrown, nothing bad happens. The stallion stays right where it is, so eat something and try again.

Step 4: Register It (Recommended)
Before you ride north, stop at Highland Stable and register the stallion. That way you can summon it at any stable later, and if things go wrong on the trip you are not starting over from Ibara Butte.
Step 5: Show Baddek and Place the Crystal
Ride back to Zokassa Ridge and talk to Baddek while you are on or next to the horse. He is thrilled, and he hands over the crystal. Interact with it and a green beam shoots out toward the shrine’s location, just a short walk away above the Nikohsi Lightroot. Pick the crystal up, carry it to the spot the beam points to, and set it down. A short cutscene plays and Ishokin Shrine rises out of the ground.
Okay but this part is so good. After all that horse business, watching the shrine pop up feels like a proper little payoff.
Inside Ishokin Shrine: Rauru’s Blessing
Ishokin is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine, which means the quest you just finished was the trial. Inside there is nothing to solve.
- Treasure chest: contains a Topaz. Grab it before you head for the altar.
- Light of Blessing: collect it at the altar. Four of them trade for a heart container or more stamina at any Goddess Statue.
- Fast travel point: Ishokin becomes a warp spot in the western Faron Grasslands.
The Payoff: a Light of Blessing, a Topaz, a new warp point and the Giant White Stallion registered to your name. That is a great return for one easygoing errand.
Tips Before You Go
- Tame first if you like: you can catch the stallion before you ever meet Baddek. Riding up to him with the horse already in tow saves a trip.
- About the stallion: it is not the fastest horse you own, but it shoves through most enemies it runs into. Feed it apples to top up its health.
- Look for Koroks: there are Korok seeds around Ibara Butte. Our Korok seed locations guide helps you mop them up while you are out there.
- Night helps: Baddek’s campfire is much easier to see after dark.
