Have you noticed those little golden creatures tucked into corners, each clutching a glowing moon? They’re easy to walk past, but the Demiguise Statues are one of the most useful collectibles in Hogwarts Legacy, because the moons you bring home are what unlock Alohomora II (9 moons) and Alohomora III (13 more).
There’s no wrong way to approach this. Grab them all in one evening or one per play session. Here’s your checklist, region by region.
Demiguise Statues: The Basics
- Checklist: 33 moons in total. Three come from the main quest that introduces them, and the other 30 are spread across Hogwarts (10), Hogsmeade (9) and the open world (11).
- Unlock: the statues do nothing until you play the main quest The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament with Gladwin Moon, the caretaker. After that, the collecting continues in the side quest The Man Behind the Moons.
- Night only: moons can only be collected at night. If you find a statue by day, open your map, switch the time of day to night and come back. None of them are missable, so anything you skip is still there after the story ends.
- Where to turn in: Gladwin Moon’s room in the Faculty Tower, South Wing of the castle.

Why the Moons Matter: Alohomora Upgrades
Don’t skip this one. Locks are everywhere in Hogwarts Legacy, and only Gladwin Moon can teach you to open the tough ones.
| Alohomora level | Moons to turn in | Running total | What it opens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | From The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament | Quest moons | Level 1 locks |
| Level 2 | 9 | 9 | Level 2 locks |
| Level 3 | 13 more | 22 | Level 3 locks, the highest tier |
Completionists, you’ll want to know: no Demiguise Statue sits behind a Level 3 lock. A handful sit behind Level 2 locks, so grab the easy ones first, upgrade, then sweep back.
Hogwarts Castle: 10 Statues
The castle is the coziest place to start. Use the Floo Flames below and you’ll barely walk at all.
| Nearest Floo Flame | Where to look | Lock |
|---|---|---|
| Professor Fig’s Classroom | Inside Professor Fig’s office | None |
| Clock Tower Courtyard | South Wing bathroom, in the middle stall, through a run of doors and stairs | Level 1 |
| The Great Hall | Forward and to the right of the Floo Flame, behind a door | Level 1 |
| Divination Classroom | Library Annex: up the stairs and ladder, on the teacher’s desk | None |
| Potions Classroom | Library Annex: downstairs past a door, first room on the left | Level 1, then Level 2 |
| Library | End of the Restricted Section path, at the bottom of the stairs | None |
| Beasts Classroom | Bell Tower Wing, second door right of the Floo Flame | Level 2 |
| Hogwarts North Exit | Bell Tower Wing, the door below the stairs | Level 1 |
| Transfiguration Courtyard | Astronomy Wing, through the door left of the Floo Flame, then the lock on the right | Level 2 |
| Transfiguration Courtyard | Astronomy Wing, past the dragon statue and through the big doors, down into the cellar | Level 1 |

Hogsmeade: 9 Statues
You’d be surprised what’s hiding in the side content. Most of the village’s statues sit inside shops and ordinary homes.
- Tomes and Scrolls: the back corner behind the shopkeeper. No lock.
- House northwest of Tomes and Scrolls: take the first alley northwest, then go upstairs. Level 2.
- The Hog’s Head: the back room behind the barkeeper. No lock.
- House north of J. Pippin’s Potions: a western edge house, upstairs. Level 2.
- The Three Broomsticks: the top floor. Level 1.
- House east of the Three Broomsticks: upstairs. Level 1.
- Dervish and Banges: on the counter. No lock.
- Northeast hill house: ground floor, right in front of you as you enter. Level 1.
- Northwest house by the bridge: on a ground floor shelf. Level 1.
The Open World: 11 Statues
The rest live in houses in the villages and hamlets around the Highlands. Floo to each village and check the homes.
| Region | Village | Count |
|---|---|---|
| North Ford Bog | Pitt-Upon-Ford | 1 |
| Hogsmeade Valley | Upper Hogsfield | 1 |
| South Hogwarts Region | Aranshire, Lower Hogsfield | 2 |
| Hogwarts Valley | Brocburrow, Keenbridge (Level 1 lock) | 2 |
| Feldcroft Region | Irondale, Feldcroft (Level 2 lock) | 2 |
| Marunweem Lake | Marunweem | 1 |
| Manor Cape | Bainburgh (Level 1 lock) | 1 |
| Cragcroftshire | Cragcroft, upstairs next to a merchant | 1 |
(For the record, the Lower Hogsfield statue is in the house straight ahead when you face the Floo Flame.) Our Hogwarts Legacy interactive map is handy for plotting a village by village route.

Tips for a Relaxed Hunt
- Listen: your character comments when a statue is nearby. If you hear it but see nothing, check shelves, desks and dressers.
- Use the map counters: each region shows how many statues it holds and how many you’ve found. Trust those over any list.
- Batch your upgrades: turn in your first nine as soon as you have them, then clear every Level 2 door on your next pass.
- Floo everywhere: almost every statue sits a short walk from a Floo Flame.
Lore Connection: in the wizarding world, a Demiguise can turn invisible and is notoriously hard to spot. Statues that only show their moons after dark fit that idea nicely, and Gladwin Moon’s obsession with them is a sweet bit of character writing.
