Completionists, you’ll want to know: the night sky in Hogwarts Legacy hides one of the calmest challenges in the whole game. Fifteen stone astronomy tables are spread across the Hogwarts grounds and the Highlands, and each one asks you to line up a single constellation through a telescope.
There’s no timer, no combat and no wrong way to approach this. This guide lists every table by region, explains how to solve them, and shows exactly what the Starry-Eyed Seer rewards are.
How Astronomy Tables Work
Those round stone tables you keep passing in the early hours do nothing until the story lets you use them. After that, they turn into a gentle nighttime checklist.
- Checklist: 15 tables in total: 14 in the Highlands and 1 on the Hogwarts castle grounds. The Lyra table you solve during Astronomy Class counts toward the 15, so 14 are left once class is over. If you can’t spot a table nearby, cast Revelio to highlight it.
- Unlock: complete the main quest Astronomy Class, where you follow Ravenclaw student Amit Thakkar. The first table (Lyra) is solved during that quest.
- Night only: tables only work after dark. If it is daytime, open the map and wait until nightfall.
- Finding them: a moon icon appears on your mini map when you are close, and flying over a table reveals it on the map.
- Missable! Not at all. Every table stays available in free roam after the story.

All 15 Astronomy Table Locations
Here’s your checklist, region by region, with the constellation each table reveals. Spellings follow the in-game map.
| # | Region | Where to look | Constellation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | North Ford Bog | Far north, above Hogsmeade | Centaurus |
| 2 | Forbidden Forest | Southwest of a Merlin Trial | Draco |
| 3 | Hogsmeade Valley | West of Upper Hogsfield, on a cliff edge overlooking the Forbidden Forest | Leo |
| 4 | South Hogwarts Region | Solved during Astronomy Class | Lyra |
| 5 | South Hogwarts Region | Above a small bridge, near a Floo Flame | Scorpio |
| 6 | Hogwarts Valley | Just below a hamlet in the northeast | Corvus |
| 7 | Hogwarts Valley | Near the river, lower part of the region | Capricornus |
| 8 | Feldcroft Region | Next to a Merlin Trial at the top of the region | Lacerta |
| 9 | Feldcroft Region | Near Feldcroft, Sebastian’s home village | Horologium |
| 10 | Poidsear Coast | Above a bridge, just below a Floo Flame | Hydra |
| 11 | Marunweem Lake | East side, between a Merlin Trial and an Ancient Magic Hotspot | Canis Major |
| 12 | Manor Cape | In the ruins above Henrietta’s Hideaway (outside, not in the dungeon below) | Sagittarius |
| 13 | Cragcroftshire | Cliff edge south of the Cragcroft Floo Flame | Cetus |
| 14 | Clagmar Coast | Southern part of the coast | Lupus |
| 15 | Hogwarts castle grounds | Lower level behind the Herbology greenhouses | Phoenix |
The Hogwarts Castle Table
This one is easy to miss, because you cannot drop a waypoint on the castle map. Head out to the Herbology greenhouses and look for the lower level behind them; the table sits on its own stone platform. Flying a broom around the grounds at night is the quickest way to spot it.
Take Your Time: you need this one for the full reward set, so don’t skip it just because it is not in the Highlands list on the map.
The Cetus Table in Cragcroftshire
Many players save this table for last. It sits on a cliff edge south of the Cragcroft Floo Flame, with a few treasure vaults scattered around it, so it’s a nice spot to wrap up a session. Its constellation is Cetus, the whale.
How to Solve an Astronomy Table
The game gives you very few instructions, so the first one can feel confusing. It is simpler than it looks.
- Step 1: make sure it is night. If not, open the map and wait until nightfall.
- Step 2: walk up to the table and interact with it to look through the telescope.
- Step 3: rotate the telescope left and right to find the area of sky with the faint constellation outline.
- Step 4: zoom in or out until the drawing lines up with the stars. The on screen prompts show which buttons rotate and zoom on your platform.
- Step 5: once the stars snap into place, the game confirms the constellation and the table counts as done.
If nothing seems to fit, try a big zoom change first, then fine tune the rotation. Most tables need a lot more zoom than you’d expect.

Rewards: The Starry-Eyed Seer Set
Astronomy tables feed the Exploration challenge Find Astronomy Tables. Each tier unlocks a piece of cosmetic gear.
| Tables solved | Reward |
|---|---|
| 5 | Starry-Eyed Seer’s Scarf |
| 10 | Starry-Eyed Seer’s Ensemble |
| 15 | Starry-Eyed Seer’s Cape |
- Claiming them: open Challenges, go to Exploration, select Find Astronomy Tables and click each reward icon. Nothing is added until you claim it.
- Equipping them: the pieces are appearances, so you apply them with the change appearance option in the Gear menu and keep the stats of your current gear.
Tips for Finding Every Table
- Check the region tracker: zoom out on the map and each region shows how many tables it holds and how many you have found.
- Fly at night: do your hunting after dark so you can solve each table the moment you land.
- Pair it with other hunts: many tables sit near Merlin Trials, Floo Flames and hamlets, so you can clear several icons per trip. Our Hogwarts Legacy interactive map helps with that.
Lore Connection: this random detail actually connects to the wider game. Amit’s whole personality is his love of the stars, and the constellations you uncover are the same ones Hogwarts students study in Astronomy class. Hogwarts Legacy still has a healthy crowd on PC, which you can follow on the live Hogwarts Legacy player count, so plenty of players are out there stargazing with you.
