Staring at the Hogwarts Legacy trophy list and wondering where to start? Good news: this is one of the friendlier Platinums out there. Nothing depends on difficulty, almost nothing is missable, and the game lets you keep exploring after the credits.

The one real catch is your House. Four trophies are tied to it, and you only pick a House once per save. Let’s break down the whole roadmap so you plan for that from day one. Take it at your own pace.

Completion guides commonly rate the Platinum around 3 out of 10 for difficulty. It is long, but it is gentle. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Four of the trophies depend on which House you join, so plan your saves early.

The Four House Trophies

These are the only trophies you can truly miss on a single save. Each one unlocks when you complete the House specific Map Chamber section of the main quest Jackdaw’s Rest as a member of that House.

HouseTrophyHow to unlock
GryffindorThe Gryffindor in the GraveyardComplete Jackdaw’s Rest as a Gryffindor
HufflepuffThe Auror’s ApprenticeComplete Jackdaw’s Rest as a Hufflepuff
RavenclawThe Wise OwlComplete Jackdaw’s Rest as a Ravenclaw
SlytherinThe Toast of the TownComplete Jackdaw’s Rest as a Slytherin

Missable! You cannot change your House on a save. The fix is simple: after your main run, start three short new games, one for each remaining House, and play just until Jackdaw’s Rest is done. Most players need about two hours per extra run.

Take Your Time: Jackdaw’s Rest is a lovely early quest anyway, so the extra runs are a nice way to see each House’s common room and opening scenes.

Your Platinum Roadmap

Here’s your checklist, in an order that avoids backtracking.

Step 1: Play the Story Your Way

Pick your favorite House for the main save and play the story at your own pace. Many trophies pop just from story progress. Once Ancient Magic unlocks, get in the habit of using an Ancient Magic finisher on new enemy types, because one trophy asks you to use it on a long list of enemies.

Step 2: Side Quests and Relationships

Clear every side quest, including the relationship questlines for Sebastian, Natsai (Natty) and Poppy. The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest, once PlayStation only, came to every platform with the June 2024 update, but it isn’t needed for The Good Samaritan or the Platinum, so treat it as a fun extra. Your completed quest list in the menu is the easiest way to spot gaps.

Step 3: Spells, Levels and Talents

  • Learn every spell: several come from side quests and assignments, so finishing Step 2 covers most of them.
  • Level 40: one trophy asks you to reach the level cap.
  • Spend every talent point: you earn 36 points from level 5 to 40, and one trophy wants all of them spent.
  • Alohomora level 3: collect Demiguise Statues for Gladwin Moon to upgrade your lockpicking, which opens the last locked doors.

Most of the Platinum is exploration: collectibles, broom races and challenges across the Highlands.

Step 4: Collectibles and Challenges

This is the long part. Completionists, you’ll want to know: the Collection trophies cover a lot of categories.

  • Exploration: Merlin Trials, Demiguise Statues, Astronomy Tables, Balloon Sets, Landing Platforms and Field Guide pages.
  • Castle puzzles: Daedalian Keys, Arithmancy Doors and Moth Frames.
  • Collections: gear appearances, wand handles, beasts, Conjurations and traits all feed the Collector’s Edition trophy. Not every open-world collectible counts, so work from the Collections menu rather than the map.
  • Broom races: beat the times in the broom trials around the Highlands.
  • Challenges: keep claiming rewards in the Challenges tab as you go.

The Hogwarts Legacy interactive map makes this phase far less overwhelming, and our Hogwarts Legacy hub links every collectible guide.

Step 5: The House Runs

With your main save at 100%, start the three short House runs and play each one until you complete Jackdaw’s Rest. That’s the Platinum.

Glitch Warnings and Save Tips

  • Collector’s Edition and The Good Samaritan: both have a history of bug reports. Keep the game updated and keep older manual saves just in case.
  • Save often: make a manual save before big quests and before you finish the story.
  • Free roam after the ending: every collectible and side quest stays available after the credits, so nothing in Step 4 is time limited.
  • Combo trophy tip: one trophy asks for a long combo, which is easier on Normal or Hard because enemies survive long enough to keep it going.
  • The Spell Master: despite the wording, you don’t need the three Unforgivable Curses for it, so you can skip Sebastian’s curse lessons and still get it.
  • Finishing Touches: use an Ancient Magic finisher on 34 specific enemy types. Story-only bosses and Infamous Foes don’t count, so mix your targets during camp fights.

Three short extra runs, one per House, finish off the list.

Lore Connection: the game is set in the 1890s, a century before the Harry Potter books, which is why the Map Chamber and the Keepers feel like a hidden chapter of the castle’s history rather than a story you already know.
