Plenty of people have cosplayed Shadowheart, but cosplayer Frau_Haku went further than almost anyone. Their take on her Dark Justiciar armor from Baldur’s Gate 3 is made from real metal, and Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have called it one of the best versions of the look they’ve ever seen.

Real Metal, Real Weight

Frau_Haku shared the build with the Baldur’s Gate 3 community. Instead of foam or 3D-printed plastic, every armor piece was made from metal, with help from a team of blacksmiths. The full set took a little over a month to make and weighs around 20kg, so just walking around in it is a workout.

The costume doesn’t stop at the armor. It comes with the headpiece and Shar’s Spear of Evening, the legendary spear Shadowheart earns by finishing her quest for Shar. A later video shows Frau_Haku holding the spear before switching into the full Dark Justiciar look, and it also features a glowing copy of the Mysterious Artefact, the gith relic Shadowheart carries at the start of the game.

Frau_Haku is a familiar name in the BG3 cosplay scene. They’d already won fans over with a Lae’zel cosplay before taking on Shadowheart.

Why the Dark Justiciar Look Matters

Light spoilers for Act 2 below.

Becoming a Dark Justiciar is Shadowheart’s lifelong dream. Dark Justiciars are Shar’s elite warriors, and in Act 2 Shadowheart gets the chance to join them in the Gauntlet of Shar. If she goes through with Shar’s final demand, she ascends and gets this armor. If you push her toward Selûne instead, she turns her back on Shar and you never see her in it.

That makes the Dark Justiciar armor a bit of a statement. It’s the outfit of the Shadowheart who chose darkness, and Frau_Haku’s version gets the cold, imposing feel of that path just right.

What Fans Are Saying

The posts picked up thousands of upvotes, and the comments were full of praise for the detail and the sheer effort of working in metal. For a character as popular as Shadowheart, standing out from all the other cosplays is hard. Doing it in 20kg of hand-forged armor is one way to manage it.
